I have the MIM one which has a fatter neck (from what I read), but it indeed is very easy to play.b.e.nny wrote:easy to play

Re: Wadeaminute's Super-Sonic Thread
yeah, there is a big difference in neck shapes between the Fender and Squier versions, the Squier having a much thinner neck. not a bad thing, just different.caliban wrote: I have the MIM one which has a fatter neck (from what I read), but it indeed is very easy to play.
my #1 is my JMJM which as we all know has a huuuuge neck on it, which makes me feel like i'm going to snap the Squier Super-Sonic neck when i go back to playing it ha.

I'm sad never had a fender supersonic in my hands. Love my squier and would be curious about comparing face to face.

Wow - this thread woke up after almost a year!
I've lately been thinking about re-working the red sparkle Fender XII with new pickups and a black pickguard, or switching out the necks to make the gun-metal (purple) sparkle one the XII. The rest are all dialed in.
I like both neck shapes, even though they are quite different. Especially happy that the Fenders were large enough to take 12 strings.

Here's mine

It's MIM with Fastback ’59 Zebra pickup and modified wiring. I have series / parallel wiring with volume control on each pickup and a DMT Dual Mode High & Low Pass Tone Control from guitar electronics

You are a bastard (in the most loving way) I have wanted one forever. In 96 when I was playing bass I picked up a Vista Musicmaster bass. The Super-Sonic has to be my most favorite Fender/Squier, and you my friend have wayyyy to many!!

Re: Wadeaminute's Super-Sonic Thread
I'm actually thinking about getting rid of more than half of my guitars - and a few of the Super Sonics. I am thinking of making the purple one my XII, which will mean the red one goes back to a six-string. And I think that the orange and the white stock ones will go.
I made a list for myself ranking their importance to me last night. So, once I figure out how many I get to keep, the priorities are set.
24 is too many guitars, right? 9 Super-Sonics is silly?

Only you can determine what is too much or silly.

24 isn't too many if you've got space, you can afford it, and it makes you happy.
But if you'd be as happy with 12 then you might want to free up some money/space.

So what's the difference between the Fender and the Vista? I mean besides the obvious things. I have a Vista Musicmaster Bass and I love it! Vista Super sonic can cost twice what Pawnshops do. Is it just because it's older and now it's "vintage"?

Re: Wadeaminute's Super-Sonic Thread
The Squiers have wonderful tiny necks and are Japanese made. The Fenders have pretty fat necks (a substantial C, but not a D) and are made in Mexico. The Squiers feel more substantial to me - better (Japanese) made.Dphc13 wrote:So what's the difference between the Fender and the Vista? I mean besides the obvious things. The neck plates are recessed on the Squiers. The neck pickups are canted on the Fenders. I think that the electronics are better on the Squiers.
It occurs to me that as the Squiers were made 1996 - 1998 that most of them are 20 years old now. Hardly 1959-vintage, but at least old-ish and perhaps more dried out (?).
