The nicest single pickup guitars out there. I think the foam green demo model is the last one left and had a huge knick down I'll into the wood on the back. Sure cold get a huge discount on it... But nah... Didn't feel any magic. Though they will be rare soon!

Image
Sadly so badly set up outta the box. But I'm sure there's lotsa potential in it.

The color/paint is just spectacular!!!
i love delay SO much ...that i procrastinate all the time.

If Squier ever asked me to do a signature Super-Sonic, it would be a mix of an Esquire and a Super-Sonic. I made mine almost a decade ago, in faded Fiesta Red / Coral.

I dig it. I didn't think of it myself, but I have clearly appropriated the strategy twice. (*the darker one is my twelve-string Pawn Shop SS.)

Just got off the phone with the store I bought the super-sonic from. I'm gonna keep it and I'm getting $100 partial refund. I'm fine with that. I've started bonding with the guitar while I've been waiting on what was going to happen, wasn't really up for a wait on a new one so it was this or full refund. I'll do the fret level myself on the hump at the 12th fret (I'm a hobbyist guitar builder). Not sure if I'll try and take off the truss rod nut and put some washers on to give me more play in rod adjustment just yet.

Tuned down to D standard with 10-52's, it's a fun little guitar, slinky feeling and sounds great clean on the front pickup and in mixed settings. Almost like a beefier single coil fender. The bridge is fine with gain. Will either put push pulls on the volume controls or maybe have concentric controls like on a jazz bass to have dial a split or something whacky to work the coil splits on the pickups.

I can see this one being modded extensively in the future 8)

My black Vista Super-Sonic has stacked concentric pots on it so I can have volume and tone pots for each pickup and retain the two-location setup. My black one, to me, is my Les Paul, in that it has two humbuckers, volume and tone for each, and a three way. Bonus: it has Seymour Duncan Triple Shot pickup rings for coil splitting.

Woah, those triple shots are really cool! Only ever read about them at a glance on forum posts without realising what they really did, great concept having those little switches on the pickup rings!

On a different note, seeing one of your old pictures of your blue sparkle vista with the single coil strat setup inspired me to do similar to my vista recently. I'm a single coil guy at the end of the day and it's nice to have that quirky super-sonic look with strat like tones (though mine has a humbucker in the bridge position). Definitely a little different because the pickups are squashed in a little closer, maybe a little quackier with in between settings and a brighter neck position single coil tone then you'd get with a strat because it's pushed back more because of the extended neck heel tongue.

Was gonna do similar to the new one but I might stick with what's onboard for the time being as I'm enjoying the neck and neck/bridge combined tones, especially run clean.

Quick demo of my toronado. I'm in love.
It nails smashing pumpkins tones

Sounds like a winner. Nice Pumpkins tones. Mine is finally showing up tomorrow and I can't wait to try it out.

My Toronado is here. It's really pretty. I'm still not entirely sure about these pickups, which sound darker with covers over them compared to on the Super-Sonic. Otherwise it's really solid all around. I don't have a MIM Toronado to compare to, but here it is next to a GT. This is a lot of guitar for $350.

Yeah, the GT is a solid guitar, but kinda weird. No contours on the front, but it does have a tummy contour on the back. A unique neck, that must have cost some money to tool up for, but I don't think it was ever used again. Gibson-esque control knobs. Gibson style bridge and tailpiece. It's an oddball.

Received my 2 Paranormal Squiers today :

Already had a white pickguard ready because I didn't like the aged pearl on the pictures :

Looks 1000x better !!!

The neck really is thin - I have small hands and normally like small necks but this one is really thin at the lower frets and gets a bit fuller from the middle onwards.. not a problem for me but worth mentioning

Like how it plays - left the crappy stock strings on just to have the going-out-of-tune experience that everyone was complaining about on the review videos... will put D'addario 10s on next week.

The humbuckers really sound glorious - very sparkly and bright when played clean, articulate and with the right amount of mids when played with an overdrive pedal... the neck is bright and the bridge a bit overwound I guess - more mids - but still very clear, not muddy at all... I'm impressed tbh - already had planned to buy Eric Johnson Dimarzio Humbuckers because all Squier Humbucker I had so far were muddy and useless but this set really sounds good... I will leave it in there :)

At first I was a bit reluctant shelling out 400 eur for a Squier but this one is a great guitar!

Did you get 2 super sonics? or are you just taking your time with the second guitar?

kind of interested in how these pickups sound since everyone has been pretty positive about them. maybe there will still be a super sonic or toronado in a guitar store in like two years when this corona stuff is basically over

Second one is a black Toronado - didn't have the time to properly play it that's why I didn't mention it

Have a Tort Pickguard but I'm not liking the amount of yellow in the tort on that guitar :

Image

IF ANYONE WANTS TO TRADE HIS DARK RED TORT FROM THE LPB TORONADO PM ME :)

Played the guitar a bit and it seems like the Pickups are a bit more muffled ... could be the nickel covers, but they definately do not sound as good / bright as the ones on the Supersonic... behaviour is similar though : neck articulate and brighter, bridge more mids and good with distortion.. they do not sound bad but compared to the Supersonic next to them they sound more dull and muffled and thus more mid focused ...

I 've planned to put white Dimarzio's in it and it should look like this then :
