^ it's both pickups in series. i have the mod on my jag and i quite like it. nice, loud and solid sound. (:

It sounds like it won't be a replica of one of his guitars though, so thats cool.
It won't have a worn finish. That wear has all been put there by Johnny, it was worn differently a few months ago and had no wear at all last year.

I wonder when Fender plans on making this official? I'm definitely interested...

The first sig Jag falls to Johnny Marr, eh?

Not what I would have expected, but he's definately a worthy recipient. I have a lot of respect for his music, and most of all, his attitude and intelligence.

Yes, if it's all true, this was a good move by Fender.

Any idea if it's Japanese, Mexican or American version? I hope it's Mexican. :P

There is a Kurt Cobain signature Jaguar, courtesy of Fender Japan.

True, that one slipped my mind. But surely it doesn't count as an "official" Fender move, since it's Japanese only and isn't listed on Fender's main website?

The wear was put there by Johnny, not to look worn but to change the shape of the route's.

Will definitely be trying one of these out. Although i have a white Jaguar already that needs work done, i cant see me buying another jag.

I'm pretty sure johnny's main guitar (the white one with the tele switch) has a Mustang bridge.

Am I missing something? Mr Marrs guitar (I believe) is an original 63 neck (year of his birth) bolted on to a AVRI body with the back profile slightly increased. The pickups are bareknuckles and wiring you all know about. Why spend a whole lot of cash when all the mods can be done at home?
I am a great fan of Marrs early work (Smiths, The The) but how on earth can fender "honour" him in the issue of a signature, when a number of musicians of equal calibre using a specific instument for years go unrecognised. I for one would never buy or want a signature guitar from fender, ( I am not a collector) especially when I have a two hands nd a bag of tools.
Fender Signature=rip off.
Am I missing something? Am I cynical?

It is questionable if a famous player is (or feels) honoured by (or "deserves") a signature instrument. More important is the fact that (s)he gets more than a bit of money, a lot of extra guitar forum exposure and, in some cases, a decent guitar, hopefully built just the way (s)he wants it. In any case, a good deal.

Obviously, the manufacturer tries to make more money. This is what they all have to do.

For me, the main question with any signature guitar that appears on the market is: Do I really need this?
And: Am I willing to spend a little extra cash for a famous player's name signature on the headstock?
Now, if the guitar's features and overall appearance suit and please me like no other instrument, the answer is yes.

In the case of Mr Marr's Jaguar, i might be tempted. I like the look and sound of a Jag. I like white guitars with white pickguards and lots of chrome. I need but don't have a solidbody with a floating trem. I am not a fan of most classic fender guitar wirings (in the case of Jags, confusing slide switches that are able to turn everything OFF are utterly useless), I can't handle a soldering iron but I have too many projects waiting in vain for completion.
So if the big F offered me a great guitar for instant purchase and if it feels, sounds and looks good, I'd buy it.
The fact that I actually like Johnny Marr helps, too.

Cheers
Kurt Cobain died for your sins, not mine.
