J controlled everything to every single drumbeat by murph if that aint rockstar i dont know what is! "No no stop the song i dont want the drums to sound like that get off the drums Ill show you what to play!" and let me tell you something drummers dont really like to be told what to play some guitarist will take ideas on board but drummers dont like advice on what they play.

thats why barlow made the song freed pig its about the treatment he got from mascis

I love how conjecture is being presented as fact...  I am droping out of this conversation for civilitys sake.

I thought the topic was the guitar at hand?!?!

On the topic, I like the guitar except for the stupid music note sticker.  Though I'd really like to know the switching and wiring detals.

J played drums before he played guitar, just not while in Dinosaur Jr.

J played the drums on quite a few recordings of Dinosaur Jr songs later on....granted, it was during the Major Label Years

regarding the rock star thing, I'd say that's not particularly accurate...that's just being a guy who knows what his songs should sound like and will tell people...I'd do the same thing if I had a vision and we weren't getting there...I'm not gonna have people playing things I think are wrong just so someone won't call me a "rock star"..that's just daft...I don't think that Murph had a gun to his head while playing...

I have seen Dinosaur with Murph on drums, and I have also seen them when George played drums...the band was brilliant on all occasions.

when Murph joined the Lemonheads during the Car Button Cloth tour, I saw them twice, and he wasn't particularly groundbreaking drumming-wise there either.

the fact of the matter is, that in some bands, no matter how good the player is, he/she sometimes needs direction.

its not about being a rock star.

plus, you know, there is nothing wrong with rock stars either...and this comes from someone who's first love was and always will be punk rock

of course, I have chosen to open up my horizons a bit since then.....

I love how 'albinied' is a verb.  :D Although he could have 'albinied' Dinosaur by making the drums sound ABSOLUTELY HUGE.
