Ha! Wow, you guys are brutal! We all do have to grow old, doesn't mean we have to stop playing music and start wearing dockers and polo shirts! Not a huge Marr fan, but he seems like a pretty genuine dude in the interviews I have checked out. That being said, I would remove the signature. I would remove the signature on any guitar if it was on the front of the headstock even if it WAS one of my guitar heroes. I can live with sigs on the back of headstock even if I kinda hate the whole idea of signature guitars in the first place.

Whoever thought a muppet would have a signature guitar? Now that's brutal, other stuff said here so far has been based on the fact that Marr is more ponce than a guitar player nowdays [yeah smiths were great but he didn't even know what a jaguar was then so thats a bit redundant] Sure he was a great guitar player who played a rickenbacker and a LP in his heyday, when he became a sell-out pensioner playing on lame soundtracks and doing best off shows ruining his old bands material - thats when the guy discovers the Jaguar and then Fender gives him a Sig Jag......sic huh....gutter rock wrote:Ha! Where is this 'truth' you speak off? Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that's exactly what it is, an opinion.bazzawong wrote: Sometimes the truth is harsh, but it don't change the fact its the truth...
I've never understood this mentality. Sure, I'm not a massive fan of Marr's recent output, but I don't understand what that's got to do with how deserving he is of a signature guitar.

Re: Johnny Marr Sig Jaguar
Who the fuck cares who gets a signature guitar or not? I hate Mascis's music, that doesn't stop his JM from being a fantastic guitar
Also the term sell-out reeks of middle class fantasy of what artists are supposed to be. You're not entitled to their 'integrity'. Doesn't the mere fact that an artist is willing to cooperate with a corporation like Fender make them a sellout anyway? Quick, better remind the guys who deserve signature guitars that the almighty buck is going to turn them into muppets!

What is this rubbish? Is there even a coherent point to this blabbering?bazzawong wrote:Whoever thought a muppet would have a signature guitar? And I'm not even a JMarr fan. But that was painfully 'argued'.

I don't know what you're trying to convey here. Marr is A legend who is still playing music passionately in his older age, what should he be doing, playing for Nickelback?bazzawong wrote:Whoever thought a muppet would have a signature guitar? *Wow. Talk about broadcasting your ignorance.*
I love his guitar playing with TheThe and Modest Mouse, even The Cribs. I didn't listen to those bands because JM played with them - didn't even know at first. In those musical contexts, the jag fits perfectly.

Re: Johnny Marr Sig Jaguar
i love his reasons for switching to the jaguar- that it's such a traditionally "cantankerous" instrument that having to work around its "limits" has made him a more creative player.

Oh and a Jag is definitely not a traditionally "cantankerous" instrument, what a nob!

Back on topic:
Who likes the JM Jag Bare Knuckle pickups? I am really trying to like them but they are so low-output and somewhat noisy being the same polarity. It's kind of a drag because I love the way the guitar plays and sounds but compared to my jag with AVRI's it's like night and day.
Also the Position 4 (pickups in Parallel) bright switch doesn't do much that I can see, would changing the value of the capacitor there help make it a bit brighter?
