I think the confusion there is there are some FSR Squier VM Mustangs made in China. The necks are nicer because they don't have a skunk stripe and the fretboard is veneer.

I'm sorry to all those moaning about the price. Here's a visual aid:

...so you can stop moaning now. These are unavoidable.

Here's what a Fender Mustang (student level guitar) would cost now, just based on inflation alone:

Count. Yourselves. Lucky. ::) You are bitching and moaning about something out of Fenders control.
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

Nice try. The prices were leaping up before the pandemic.

Houses aren't made of basswood. Bridges aren't made of re-bar.

Fuck off with your "lucky" horseshit. My pay didn't go up by 50%.

Meanwhile fender is having record years.
If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments.

Prices were creeping up before the pandemic, then the pandemic made them leap. Lumbar means ALL wood. Rebar means ALL steel. It's all relative. That's how trading futures work.

I'm sorry your pay didn't go up 50%, no one's did, but the cost of materials and shipping went up MORE than 50% - so things have gone up. THATS JUST MATHS.

Fender are having record years because 16mil people alone took up the guitar in 2020, not because of prices going up.

If you used to build something for $150 and sell for $300, then the cost of materials meant the build cost tripled to $450, what would you aim to sell at? A loss? No, you'd want to at least keep your profits the same or better. If you sold the item for $600 you're still only making the same net profit, but at a lower % margin. Fender don't owe you any favours, they're a business. Businesses need to make a profit.

Tell me to 'fuck off' all you want but there's facts and reasons why, just because you don't like them won't change anything. Put on your big-boy pants and deal with it because it's not going to get any better.

It's considerably more complicated than that. THERE'S MUCH MORE MATH INVOLVED.

But I'm not tryna derail this thread any further. We have inflation threads already.

Me too, it's one of life's little pleasures. I'm on the same team there  even if 'Math' is grammatically wrong I accept that Americans will always say/spell it incorrectly. Just like colour, centre, favour, etc.

Dude. Don't edit post hoc. Poor form. Edits have time stamps for a reason. Bad faith.

Put your big boy pants on and mark your signicant edits if you've already been quoted.

I'm done with this noise.

Not sure where all the tears are coming from with these squiers. My recent Epiphone Riviera was over £100 more expensive than all of these price increased squiers. Yes it had cts pots, but it still had scratchy frets and a laurel fingerboard.

The sparkle jag I've ordered is around £80 more than the regular squier CV Jaguars. For an FSR model in a custom colour finish I am OK with it.

The Squiers are very comparable to the epiphones. The CV bass VI I have now in terms of looks and feel is not really inferior to the vinteras I have. Same with the CV jag I had some time ago. In fact the fingerboard edges on my vinteras are sharper the the CV.

Sorry, I edited that maybe 2mins after I initially posted it? I had more pictures to add etc. You replied WHILE I was editing. Don't call me out on timestamps before you check your own and mine against each other...

Well all I can say about my CV is I must have lucked out, cuz the frets were polished and no sharp edges at all, necks straight and comfortable. Maybe CME did a good setup on it before shipping to me. Yes I’ve played CVs that had sharp edges and were rough. But I’d say mine has good bones and not cheap crap untreated lumber. I will say despite being listed has having ash veneers, it looks like poplar grain under the white blonde to me, oh well. Still a great guitar for the money. Also, I put it on par with my 2006 American delexe tele in playability. Just had to put a little more time into setting it up properly. Back to the thread at hand.
