It looks like poly to me. hard to tell in those direct sunlight pics though, but the wear on the body and the light coloured neck indicates poly. The face of the headstock should be nitro though (and it should be more yellow than the rest of the neck, but as said - hard to tell from those outdoor pics).
just my 2 cents.....

Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

Yeah, I agree. At least as far as the body is concerned...I find it impossible to form an opinion about the neck finish. What's odd is that the headstock face doesn't seem to be darker than the rest of the neck, which I would expect with a poly neck with nitro headstock (at any rate, in my three CBS Fenders with those specs, the headstock face is a lot darker than the back).
FWIW, the poly change came in '67, according to Jim Shine's site at least, so I guess it wouldn't be a very wild guess to assume that by November, they may all be poly.

The seller sent me more close pictures of the guitars, how can I see if it's poly or nitro?

Nitro on the headstock is geting darker only if the guitar is exposed to the sun's UV, isn't it?
If the guitar had been stored in its case most of the time, the headstock finish could be as clear as the rest of the neck?

Post the pics!
As Orang said above - late 67 is most likely poly on both neck and body.
NOT a bad looking guitar though - it's really

Yeah, I like it too!
Out of curiosity... why does it matter to you?
Good question. I'm still not sure. When there's checking going on it becomes easy, but an intact finish...pff.samytv wrote: The seller sent me more close pictures of the guitars, how can I see if it's poly or nitro?

I prefer polyurethane finish because my hand sweat a lot and I already ruined my 1965 jazzmaster neck.Orang Goreng wrote:index.php?topic=202.0samytv wrote: How can I post the pics??
I also have a 1969 jazzmaster with polyurethane finish since five years and the neck is still clean like the first day.
That's why it matter to me.

Wow, it looks fantastic! I still can't tell for sure, but the gloss of the neck makes me think it's poly indeed.

I think it's a well stored (in the case), but played poly finished JM. a nitro neck with the same amount of wear and tear on the neck as the body would have had more playwear on the back of the neck. There's no sign whatsoever of checking or yellowed clearcoat, so I vote for poly.
Go for it! Lovely guitar.
