I did this myself on neck with binding. It's a KC Jaguar.
I took a nail file and without applying *any* pressure, just "rolled" it over the edges back and forth to smooth them out and take off the hard edge. I also used a sanding block at a 45 degree angle on the binding and went up and down the neck, NO pressure at all. I have a bit more to do but so far, I love it!

I also used emery board/extreme fine grit sandpaper to take the sharpness off MIM Classic 60s Lacquer fret ends. Didn’t “roll” them so much as blunted the sharp ends.
Isn’t Sunburst a guarantee it’s NOT a refin?
