Kind of hilarious that they practically traced the bridge plate that I designed like ten years ago.
My first thought when I saw it was "Damn, I know for a fact I've seen that bridge plate on OSG." Lame. Cool that the guitar is being reissued but lame that some of the design was pretty much stolen. Especially for something is essentially the only thing different from a vintage one.

These look amazing, but I just can't stand pao ferro. I get the whole cites thing and diminishing rosewood, but it seems like I see cheaper guitars with better looking fretboards. A lot of new japanese fender are cheaper than this and have great looking fretboards. I might end up buying one regardless because goddamn, those are cool.

Yeah after the initial thrill they do look a bit off. But I'll have to see one in person.
Bridge looks Dano-ish. I under$rand why, but it's a pity.
Sure hope the wood won't be as pale as on these pc-made mockups.

Still cool. Very hyped and thrilled to see/know more!

Edit: seen it comes in a gigbag, no hard case...

Well, they also listed the CV Jaguar as 25.5" scale, so I'm thinking this initial info may not be 100% accurate. I noticed this nut width too, but I'm reserving judgement until the initial chaos around the leak and official release settles down.

I remember the Bullet Mustang was officially listed as 24.75" scale when it was released, even on the official site, and it took a bit of time for people to figure out it was a real 24" Mustang.

OSG: we need a reissue Fender Electric XII! Let’s start a petition and keep it going for literally years until Fender hears us

Also OSG: IDK, the bridge doesn’t look quite right :/ they didn’t use my preferred fingerboard wood because humans are destroying the earth :/ back to the drawing board I guess

I’m kidding (a little bit), of course. I’ll get what I can ;D between this new one or spending four or five grand on an original, I have my mind made up already

It's a c£750 MIM Fender - would be fairly unlikely to get a hard case included. Wonder if they'll make any though?

Well the four critical things to me about a XII are: It’s neck, through body stringing, all strings having individual intonation adjustment and four way pickup selector.

Without these it’s just a poseur.

According to Micheal Adams (puisheen from Instagram), who already held one at NAMM, it' has a "surprisingly narrow neck for a 12-string", but it's stil comfy. So yes, I'd say it's a 6-string width, which is a bit of a turnoff for me. If I wanted that cramped 12-string feel, I'd play a Rickenbacker.

through body stringing
Those bridges have six of the strings going through the body and six top-loading don't they?

Isn't this also through body stringing? Image

So half are? Bizarre. Also was the drill operator pissed that day?

Or did you just copy and paste them on? :D

They're the same as the MIJ Stratocaster XIIs they released recently (down to the wonky ferrules...):

That isn't a wonky ferrule job - that's the correct spacing on the Gotoh 12 string bridge.
