Welp, no such luck. Too short and too narrow. Dammit. Nice case otherwise though

the Rondo warehouse is only an hour from here...I asked if I could bring the guitar and try a bunch of their cases, but they said no. :(
If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...

Best cases I've found to fit these are:

Gator GW-JAG: Wood Jaguar case fits just barely with some foam-clamping.

Gator GC-ELEC-XL: Molded baritone extra-long case- again, just barely fits in with some foam squooshing at the butt end and the upper horn area. This case does have the form-fitting foam that molds perfectly to fit when you leave the guitar in for a couple days.

Both of those land right around the $100 pricepoint.

I'll update if I find any more that will fit.

I broke out the XII for the Sunday morning church service today. It sounded pretty good through a Fend Blues Jr with a little delay and reverb.

For people who have both the Squier Vista Venus XII and the AR Electric XII, which guitar has a wider nut/neck?

I love my Squier Vista Venus XII, but I have big-ish hands/fingers and sometimes I struggle playing some chords. :fp:

I am almost tempted to convert the Squier Venus XII into a six string by getting a custom neck made for it (I know, I know. I probably won't do it).

Neither should cause trouble. Maybe you’re like 7’ tall or something and can palm a basketball but honestly in my experience a good setup can cure most “hard to play” 12s. Get that action lower and it’ll play way easier.

Capo is also your friend. Capo even a few frets up can give you some extra fretboard width to get comfortable with it. Also a lot of secret jangle locked in that capo

I haven't played the Venus, but I have reasonably large hands (I have to wear XL gloves) and I find the ARXII to have a pretty wide and beefy neck at the nut. (At the 12th fret it's more similar to a Strat/JM, but it doesn't taper much at the nut.) I have also taken half the strings off on occasion and played it as a six-string and it's wide enough that it almost feels like a classical guitar neck.

I'll chime in my 2cents:

The AR is ever-so-slightly wider at the nut. In my hands I can tell a very slight difference in the cowboy-chords area, but it's so slight that there's no dissonance when switching between the two.

I have biggie (XL gloves) sized hands too, and sometimes find my chording fingies running into each other on both guitars.

My Surfcaster 12 necks are about the same width, but much thinner front-to-back which seems to open up a little room for me.

If you want a REALLY wide neck, try out the OLP 12. Super roomy spacing and a big, beefy neck. Like a vintage Burns 12, but at 1/10th the price.

Anybody make anodized gold pickguards for this model? I was thinking it could look good with the Oly white...what other colors do you think would look good with it? I am not in love with the stock pickguard.

if you do a search for Fender AR XII, a bunch of pickguards pop up. There are a couple that look like anodized gold...I didn't look closely.

Any suggestions for one? I saw https://www.stewmac.com/strings-and-acc ... -capo.html that one recommended earlier in this thread, and honestly, it's pretty shite and I'm kinda pissed I spent 35 bucks on it.

The AR definitely has a bit wider and thinner neck than the Venus. It's not much, but it is noticeable. I love my Venus, but I find the AR to be ever so slightly more comfortable
