Fender Japan Heritage series including Jazzmaster

Post by ags » Wed Mar 25, 2020 8:08 am

Fender Japan posted a new video. Looks like vintage style teles, strats, jazzmasters, p and j basses.

Just a wee look on Google, 11 new models ranging from 50s to 70s. Strats, Teles, a 60s spec Jazzmaster too. Looks a pretty good, lower price pointed alternative to the American Original series.

No Jag in the articles I read man. Weird. I’d imagine one would eventually be released within this series, but definitely a head scratcher that it’s not happening on launch.

They're on the Fender Japan website (you'll probably need to change your location to Japan at the bottom otherwise the Fender site will revert to the one for where you live): https://shop.fender.com/ja-JP/made-in-japan-heritage

The Jazzmasters:

Definitely not for me, every finish is bland nude or sunburst. Yuck.

These appear to be top quality Guitars. Are they comparable to Terada built Gretsch Guitars? I own one & they're as good as it gets.

I'm interested in buying one of these Heritage Fenders if they are. I'm in the USA.. How do I go about it?

Thanks,

Larson

Looking at the upper horn, they're not using the 'classic' Fender Japan shape, but the 'correct' American body shape!

That mary kay is DREAMY.

The gold guard looks great, but I am convinced they change the sound in a way that I do not like at all. I'd love to have a double blind test and find out that I'm full of shit, cuz they look DOPE.

These look fantastic!

The pickguard design is more consistent with the US models. Usually the pickguards on MIJ JM's are bulky looking.

Kevin Shields reckons the aluminium guards make them sound brighter. I would not argue with his ears, ever. Weirdly, I've got an AV65 and a Squier JMJM with AV65 pups in it and the JMJM definitely sounds crisper.
