Compared to the ones you tried, how do they fare?LHR wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 6:30 pmI live in the USA, and I noticed that the day after Brexit passed, the GBP took a serious nosedive. I immediately thought, "Hey, what have I always wanted to buy from England?" Very mercenary of me, sorry.
Anyhow, a new Jaguar XJ (automobile) was a tad out of my price range, so I emailed Creamery and got a set of Vintage Classic/'58. They are great. The neck, especially. Dropped them in a Fender Japan Jazzmaster and could not be happier. Are they significantly better than all the other boutique ones out there? No idea as I have only played a few (Fender Custom Shop, Pickup Whiz, Novak) so I've no way to do an exhaustive comparison. However, I would definitely buy again.
Try them!

Re: Creamery Pickups?
Just to add more reassurance on The Creamery. I had something custom made from him a few years ago. I had fairly specific needs and Jamie was more than happy to shoot a few emails back and forward to discuss these and even though I basically gave him free reign to make whatever we wanted to as long as it solved my problem and met my brief the result was excellent.
As someone else has already commented everything he does is custom so I wouldn't think twice about describing what you have and what you want to achieve and leaving the rest to him.

I've got some Creamery Sonic 60s in my Jaguar. Sound fantastic, and look beautiful.

Hi stephen, love the look of the sonics, how do describe the sound vs what you had?Stephen_42 wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 5:25 pmI've got some Creamery Sonic 60s in my Jaguar. Sound fantastic, and look beautiful.

Re: Creamery Pickups?
I'm always cautious about describing the tone from pickups, but I'd say a bit warmer/fuller than the stock (Squier VM Duncan Designed). Incredibly little noise as well - admittedly I only play at fairly low volume in my flat, but it's noticeably less noisy than my other guitars. (Of course that could be for reasons other than the pickups though).barryd wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 10:50 amHi stephen, love the look of the sonics, how do describe the sound vs what you had?Stephen_42 wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 5:25 pmI've got some Creamery Sonic 60s in my Jaguar. Re: Creamery Pickups?
Thanks Stephen, my playimg is indoors at low volume too so warmer/ fuller sounds ok to me. The stock player series neck pick up is ok but i imagine a handwound pickup be it creamery or otherwise should be a bonusStephen_42 wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 8:16 amI'm always cautious about describing the tone from pickups, but I'd say a bit warmer/fuller than the stock (Squier VM Duncan Designed). Thank you - you are a saint and a scholar!
I've been leaning towards the Alt-88s Trebles, but the mids sound pretty great, especially overdriven...
Cheers!

I have a set of trisonics on which those pickups are based, and they're much quieter than standard single coils, too. The combination of a narrow coil and a full Faraday cage (they're fully encased in a grounded metal cover) helps a lot compared to standard single coils.Stephen_42 wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 8:16 amI'm always cautious about describing the tone from pickups, but I'd say a bit warmer/fuller than the stock (Squier VM Duncan Designed). Re: Creamery Pickups?
After waiting 3 months I finally received the Baby Wide Range pickups I ordered.
Had them installed in a PRS Custom 24 with 4 conductor wiring for 5 way split.
They fit well but I'm not as impressed as I thought I would be. I plan on removing them and putting them into a cheap Japanese knock off guitar instead.

Re: Creamery Pickups?
Few days ago I received a set of Creamery which I've ordered for my MIJ Jazzmaster.
This set consist of a Alt-88 Mi Range for the bridge and a '58 neck. The set is a bit customized because together with Jamie, we decided to use Alnico IV mangnets on both pickups, and the '58 is slightly overwounded to match the Alt-88.
I've recorded few notes before and after the pickup change:

Creamery Alt-88 & 58
https://www.dropbox.com/s/25dof2fes0m3m ... 1.wav?dl=0
Note: these takes where done just right after the pu charge, and so the setup was still not so 100% proper.
Note 2: the guitar is tuned B to b.
So now after a few days spent playing the guitar I can say... wow: now it's a Sludgemaster!
I love that the bridge Alt-88 has a very high output volume a lot of bite in the mids and more bass, but it still has that JM-single coil carachter, and as soon as you turn the distotion on, it's almost as thick as an humbucker, but still with that twangy caracter.
The 58 is very warm but has still that wonderful cristal clear quality, that you can tame with the rhythm circuit.
Together I find these has somehow a sound which to my ears is a lot reminescent of '80 new-wave/post-punk.
So far, I'm super impressed, and key of this was chatting with Jamie before placing the order.

Re: Creamery Pickups?
I have a matched set in my Tele Custom (Broadcaster single coil in the bridge, '72 WRHB in the neck). LOVE them. There's a reason it's my most-used guitar, and the only electric I've had up until I got my JM.

I have a P90 sized "stealth" humbucker from Creamery. It's excellent.

Re: Creamery Pickups?
I have 3 sets of Creamery pickups, all fantastic. I have the Alt 88 mids in my Jaguar, they sound somewhere in between a Jaguar pickup and a P90, edgy without being shrill, and really punchy.

Re: Creamery Pickups?
I emailed Jaime trying describe my 'needs' and he recommended Jag'64 neck pu which i went with - i've had it in my guitar a month or so (damn you COVID!) and I love it so much. Night and day with stock pu, clear defined strings ringing tones and the lower output really delivers. Subjective, yes. Happy, yes!barryd wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 8:44 amThanks Stephen, my playimg is indoors at low volume too so warmer/ fuller sounds ok to me.
