Lake Placid Blue is probably my favorite custom color (although the OTM Av65 Thin Skin Jazzmasters have really caught my eye and now a contender for fav shade of blue) so I've owned numerous LPB guitars. The first one is a semi hollow custom build that I had MJT do the finishing on, this one seems like the darkest shade of LPB of the three.

Image

This was a '66 Jaguar refin that I ended up stripping a lot of the blue off to try to get at the CFM finish underneath. I suppose this was the brightest fo the three.

Image

This was another MJT project where they did the body build and finish for me. I feel like this shade is probably the middle ground between the two.

Image

Looking back on all of these is really making me miss each of these guitars. Especially considering how hard it is to find good custom color guitars, and each of these were fantastic. The tele may be coming back into my life soon though as the guy who bought it off me is looking to sell it back 8)

This has been posted before, but it's ice blue metallic beside firemist silver.

I want to find either of these finishes on a Jag. I suppose they're rare for a reason. :'(

Yikes, that Tele is hot! I'd have personally preferred a heel adjust truss rod and the regular Bigsby bridge situation, but now I'm just being picky. Damn!

Here's another Firemist Silver (by Rexter)
There's an almost green-ish hue to it that's hard to capture in a photograph

Also painted by Rexter, this Tele in my favourite of Fender's solid colours, Taos Turquoise:

More great looking blue guitars in this thread!

As promised, here's some shots of my ocean turquoise Tele.
Is it green? Is it blue? Does anybody have a clue?
Will there be consensus when all our time is through?

That neck looks smooth...does it play as well as it looks?

Lightning fast, I can slide my hand up and down multiple times very quickly with no noticable friction. I believe the saying is "as smooth as satin" ;D

I love these colors but I sometimes wish Fender offered more dark blue finishes for their offsets. That seems to be a bit of a blind spot in their palette.

Navy blue finish + gold hardware = :?

Wow! Love this! I tend to prefer tort on offsets but for some reason I do not like it at all on Teles (shrug). I think the Pearloid guard here is a major improvement. Bound teles are a thing of great beauty. I don’t have one but I feel like that may be in my future.

Can you tell us more about this one? Haven't seen the strips on the rear before.

Thanks,

I'll see if I can get some shots of the Tele with the pearl pickguard, seems all the decent ones I have it still has the original tortoise.

Regarding the Squier sonic blue (I kinda consider it a toothpaste white):

original in front of off-white wall
Image

for white-balance, with a piece of printer paper
Image

after refinish in front of the same wall (tell me I did the right thing!)
Image

ummm INFINITELY better. I don't get that squier sonic blue at all for the life of me. The VM jazzmasters were pale enough, but these new CV one's.... what's even the point of calling them blue. They look white in pretty much every light when you're not comparing it side by side with white.

I, too, prefer the satin neck. Glad it's a wonderful neck for ya.
