As long as you’re going custom why not move the jack to a less silly place?

Well, more or less a Les Paul style jack... still wy better than a Strat-Input jack or a Tele-control plate!marqueemoon wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 5:49 pmAs long as you’re going custom why not move the jack to a less silly place?

Did you say the same when the Jazzmaster came out? None of it looked anything like what was already out at the timeparry wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 9:34 amCROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 10:48 pmI just think this design is not a Fender design.
It's not a bad design.
It would just look better with Gibson hardware/neck or something crazy like Jackson hardware.
This ^^^
The only thing Fender about it is the headstock - and that's completely widowed from the body lines/shape.
It's like a space-suit with flip-flops.

Seriously though, if this were the Ibanez Meteora, Washburn Meteora or the Fernandez Meteora, it would make much more sense.

Not an invalid opinion of course. Dimension bass had a similar pickguard shape, but that's not exactly the most iconic Fender model.

I understand what you're trying to say... but I wasn't saying I didn't like the body shape.Futuron wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 2:19 amDid you say the same when the Jazzmaster came out? To my eye, those body lines seem more relatable in the Gibson or Fano family - but I don't mind it. I also like the shape of the headstock. What I'm saying is that from a design perspective - in totality as an object - the headstock and body shape are completely out of place together. There have been a ton of guitars released that look nothing like anything before it. That doesn't make them good. My comment has nothing to do with being a historical purist stuck on repeat.

All I know is that I've been playing my Meteora a lot lately. It's extremely comfortable, maybe the most comfortable body shape I've ever played. Ron Thorn's take looks awesome. Kinda makes me want another one.

Re: Fender MasterBuilt Meteora
I also have a Meteora. The HH MIM version.
It's a really nice shape IMHO and it's very confortable to play, but I find it too expensive for what it is. It's basically a Player MIM quality, but with the price of a Vintera.
I find the Masterbuilt gorgeous. I had the idea myself to order a custom one, but not for 11k$

I can see that. I snagged my MIM for about $650 after months of watching and waiting for the right color and price to pop up. They're mostly at $900-$1,000 right now, which I agree is a tougher sell.Arthon wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 10:34 amI also have a Meteora. The HH MIM version.

Just make your own? You can make your own to your personal preferences. I used a Peavey neck for mine. I think it fits the body shape better.

Yeah, see, that works!
Reckon the jack input should be on the pickguard. There's so much damn space.

You know, put three Firebird pickups and a JM Jag Trem/Bridge on it, and I'm all in.
