Totally Unplanned NGD
Well, today I brought home a new Mystic Seafoam AmPro Jazmaster........
As I have mentioned several times here on the OSG, I tend to prefer vintage spec Fenders in Classic Custom colors. Having said that, I really like my OW AVRI62 JM, but have been very attracted to the Mystic Seafoam American Professional Jazzmaster with the maple neck since its release. A different JM for sure, but I like the specs, really love how they play, and think that particular color with maple neck is as pretty as anything Fender has ever produced. I have come very close to buying one several times but never did. Recently I discovered that the AmPro line is being suspended or discontinued - at least certain models, and the Mystic Seafoam Jazzmaster has disappeared from the regular Fender product line. Anyway............
Last week I stopped into my nearest (140 miles away) Guitar Center, as I frequently do as I travel about the northeast. In talking to a rep(Matt) that I have gotten to know there over the years, I mentioned the recently discontinued AmPro JM that I liked. He said GC sometimes did great unadvertised closeout deals and started searching GC inventory on his computer. My lucky day! Only found one on closeout (in Texas)...........said the price was $866.97!!!!!! I couldn't say "ship it" fast enough!!!
It came today and is in flawless new condition, except for a couple of things - someone had previously "harvested" the witch hat knobs, and the trem arm was missing (both of which we were aware of). They immediately ordered both items to ship directly to me. It came with the COA and everything else though. So, I have the inconvenience of waiting for the missing parts, but its a very small penalty for the terrific price!
As icing on the cake, so to speak, I decided to see what GC might give me for a used Gretsch G5120 Electromatic I don't play anymore. I was pleasantly surprised to be offered close to what I had paid for it. Sold!!!! Matt @ GC was great to deal with in all of this.
Sorry for the long ramble, but I am extremely pleased with this NGD............that just sorta happened !

The colour is to die for. Totally sucked me in too!
I went for ebony, however.

Wow, what a great deal on an awesome guitar! That color with the maple neck is, indeed, among Fender’s most beautiful aesthetic achievements. Congratulations! It’s nice to hear a good GC story.

Good score. I agree about the mystic seafoam. Such an amazing colour, that you really need to see in person.

Very nice! I almost bought one of these last year from my local GC. They had it used for a really decent price but I backed out last second. I find that dealings with GC can def go either way. The one we have locally has some pretty nice employees who have gone the distance for me to get me good trade in value for stuff or discounted the things I was buying.
Mystic Seafoam is a hell of a color. I'd love to see it on some more offsets in the future for sure!

Good on you! I have one, too, and it not only is the most gorgeous guitar I own, it also has the best neck.
Play the heck out of if. Congratulations!

That's a great guitar and an even better deal. Nothing like getting an American Fender with a MIM price. Congrats.
