I've got the Oxblood version with a Staytrem on it and it is just about the finest Jazzmaster I've ever played; from a rather small sample of JMs. However, I've played hundreds of guitars and this one is a keeper.
Looking good in the new color and blocks. Maple boards have always been my preference too.

I like the maple B+B neck... not sold on the colour, but that’s just from looking at it in my phone so subject to change. The Oxblood TVL is a fantastic looking and playing instrument, though...

GAS inducing!!!
I usually strongly dislike matching headstock with maple fretboards, but this copper colour doesn't stand out too much from the maple with tinted clear coat

Glad to see maple BB&B, but matching headstocks look weird on them. This is a relatively inoffensive colour to do that with, at least.

Re: New Fender Troy Van Leeuwen Jazzmaster in Copper Age
wow, that would be a real contender if i didn't already have so many of those bases covered, at least sonically and in terms of feel. i even have some of the aesthetic covered with Maple/BB&B on my Doheny. i love that look, especially from the playing perspective.
if i were in the market for a JM, i would be pretty hot to find one and try it.
come to think of it, i don't have an actual *Fender* made JM like that...
i'm going to try to persuade myself to be patient and wait for a used one to pop up... that's a lot of patience.
if i did go for it, i would hunt down a black guard for it, too. that's my first instinct.
somebody get one!

Re: New Fender Troy Van Leeuwen Jazzmaster in Copper Age
you guys just hit on something that i have felt for years but never quite put my finger on!
i really wanted a Maple/BB&B neck on an offset, so when the guys at G&L mentioned they were prototyping the Doheny, i asked if i could get that neck. also on my bucket list was custom color with matching headstock. i only have a few colors that i like, but i was surprised when mocking them up, i was not in love. resetting the color options, the display went to sunburst, and of course natural headstock. That's it! i'm in love! i didn't question 'why', and i was happy with my Firemist Silver and Oly headstock guitars... of course they have rosewood boards.
thanks for the nudge!

That's a good model Jazzmaster and I like the maple neck, but not with that color. I think rosewood board would look better and I think that maple neck would look good with the oxblood or some contrasting (non-brown/yellowish) color. Just my $0.02

Not as wrong as when Squier put a matching headstock on a Sherwood green strat...with a maple board.
It's so weird, because I adore sherwood, and I love matching headstocks...but throw a maple board into the equation and it takes a sudden turn for the worse
This isn't as offensive, but I'd honestly sand that headstock down to bare maple if I had one. It just looks so much better.
Maple with black blocks and binding just speaks for itself. A painted headstock is just putting a hat on a hat at that point.
