It's so weird, because I adore sherwood, and I love matching headstocks...but throw a maple board into the equation and it takes a sudden turn for the worse
This isn't as offensive, but I'd honestly sand that headstock down to bare maple if I had one. It just looks so much better.
Maple with black blocks and binding just speaks for itself. A painted headstock is just putting a hat on a hat at that point.
So, maybe now is not the time to say I wanted this Strat for a long time, and still do (but it will be discontinued by the time I can afford a new guitar, if it isn't already).BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 8:00 pmThat Strat makes me think one thing: Socks with sandals.

I think all headstocks look better painted, and this is fancy as hell. I love it.

It looks like a Pumpkin Spice Latte. Perfect for autumn, but not for everyone.

Ahh, I was a fan of this CV strat too. It actually came as two versions, one with and one without the painted headstock.
Sadly discontinued. Someone on OSG has one with a Tort pick guard upgrade. It's beautiful.
I also like the TVL new colour. I think it's quite original.

I'm with you on this. I absolutely hate the color combo (I don't like maple necks to begin with, and B&B maple necks are hideous), but I respect the fact that it's unique. Vive la différence.

I still think the 95 american standard limited editions look pretty cool for maple/matching headstock

This was quietly announced at Namm in January. If you check this thread you posted in you'll see that it was initially supposed to have a rosewood board. Not sure how exclusive it will turn out to be though. Very nice!
Edit: Myabe not this thread, but theres pics knocking around with a rosewood fretboard.

I think it looks great; copper color, matching headstock, etc. All except for the tort guard. Maybe with a Spitfire it would look good, but that tort is horrible. Maybe with a parchment, mint, or black guard would it be MUCH better.

guard does not photograph well and still has it protective plastic on, in brighter lighting the guard has specks of colour that set the guitars finish off nicely. I guess if you hate the guard that much you can buy your own and do whatever you like to it. Regardless of aesthetics this plays about as well as any custom shop JM have ever tried - and thats straight out of the box with no mucking aroundShadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 10:26 pmI think it looks great; copper color, matching headstock, etc. All except for the tort guard. I thought yours was black, haha In that lighting, the guard looks good. But in the press release pictures the tort looks awful. I'm also not one who believes that tort should go on everything. In theory, red, orange, and maple could look really good together, but if it was mine (lefty, so no issue here), I'd get a mint guard probably.clarence leonidas wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 11:42 pmguard does not photograph well and still has it protective plastic on, in brighter lighting the guard has specks of colour that set the guitars finish off nicely.
