NGD American Pro Jazzmaster in Mystic Seafoam
Dunno why, but Oops I did it again...
I may simply be due to the fact that I read it on here, but I'm finding myself pushing the high E off the fretboard.
I'll persevere on the basis that it might improve my playing to be a little more focused.... (???)
or I may just be dreaming...

Re: NGD American Pro Jazzmaster in Mystic Seafoam
Beautiful - congratulations!
I got one just like it about a week and a half ago and have been playing it more than any guitar I've purchased for many years. I have 30 something guitars and grab this one because it really "grabs" me. Love the features, love the look, the way it plays, and the way it sounds. Have not really had any issue with pushing the E strings off the board but am aware of it. Doesn't really affect my playing, although I can push them off if I try to.
edit: looks like yours has the early production wide bridge string spacing - mine does too (2017 production). Also, from the photo, it looks like your high E string is closer to the fretboard edge than the low E. If so, perhaps loosen the neck screws and realign the neck to change that/retighten screws.

Re: NGD American Pro Jazzmaster in Mystic Seafoam
thanks for that info. saw your comment about digging the Sea colours on someone else's JM post.
Like you I've always wanted a surf green guitar and just happened to get lost on the Fender website on the weekend.
then luckily (?) my local guitar shop had one in stock. shop owner said it has barely if ever been played since they got it in
love the colour.
the glossy neck is something new to me.
here's another pic - not sure how it compares to yours - this pic is higher res.
did you make that adjustment ?

Re: NGD American Pro Jazzmaster in Mystic Seafoam
Sometimes the neck alignment is off because the pickguard doesn't quite make the cut.
Before you slacken the neck screws, slacken the strings and take out all the pickguard screws so it hangs loose. Then slacken the neck screws and see if you can align the neck to bring the high E string inboard and retighten the neck. Then see if the pickguard is a good fit, it might need shaving down a little if it doesn't quite fit.
Gorgeous colour BTW

Congrats! I love mine, though I did swap out the neck for one with a rosewood board. It does sound like you've got one of the 55mm spacing bridges, mine came with a newer 52mm bridge and no issues with the E strings. Am putting together a partsmaster with the original neck

Looking at that second photo, I really think the neck/string alignment can be improved - an easy fix.....
(btw, cute little character in that second pic )

The current Am Pro bridge has the standard string spacing and is available at several online parts dealers.

I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

Re: NGD American Pro Jazzmaster in Mystic Seafoam
Thanks everyone. Thought of cropping the boy out but I was in a hurry while “working”.
Good to see that lefty. Looks amazing with that neck. When I got excited about the colour all I could find on the Fender website was the lefty, so I was pleasantly surprised to see there was a righty 10 minutes from my house.
I guess I’ll find out, but out of interest, How many degrees movement Is normal ?

Re: NGD American Pro Jazzmaster in Mystic Seafoam
Basically, the neck can move because the holes drilled through the neck are just slightly larger than the neck screw shank diameter and there is usually a slight bit of clearance between the neck pocket and heel of the neck.
The procedure is pretty simple:
- loosen the strings a bit to reduce tension on the neck - keep enough tension to be sure strings are taught though.
- loosen the 4 neck screws, but not to the extent that the neck is real loose or floppy in the pocket......just loosen enough so the neck will have a chance to shift with a little bumping pressure (see next step below). Be sure to use a good screw driver of the proper tip size so you don't bugger up the screw heads. As mbe suggested, it might be good to loosen all the pickguard screws - I don't think its necessary to completely to remove them though.
- hold the guitar body firmly and give a gentle thump on the side of the neck near the nut with the palm of your hand to move it sideways. In your case you will want to bump it on the treble side to move the headstock toward the bass side. Shouldn't take too much neck movement to improve your string alignment down near the body. Just go easy at first.
- do this until the string alignment is where you want it and then tighten the neck screws, then the pickguard screws, and retune. Don't overtighten things! Good luck!

Yes indeed......
Noted your PRRI, lamp. I use my PRRI often and think it's a great pairing with the AmPro JM!

Don’t talk amps - next minute I’ll be wanting to buy something I can’t really afford from that part of the shop

Re: NGD American Pro Jazzmaster in Mystic Seafoam
hey there,
I finally had a chance to have a look yday, but it looks like the pickguard will inhibit that, since it is tight up against the neck on the bass side.
just considering whether I should remove the pickguard, then shave/sand it a bit so it can move
that said, I'll try it without doing that, since I think I want the neck to move pivoting from the bass/headstock screw (if that makes sense ?!? )
had fun playing with mah boy y'day. he LOVES early POLICE so we were learning SO LONELY.
