NGD, Novo Serus J
I posted this yesterday to TGP, but I thought I'd share this here too to other offset mided people
This NGD is few weeks late, due to me being lazy to take pics of it. I have never been good at typing long posts about every detail there is, so just ask if you want to know something more.
I got this Novo serus J-HH few weeks ago, HH just meaning dual humbuckers. Besides Lollar Imperials, SS frets hard case and cosmetics everything is what they do offer as standard option. The colour is sherwood green fade and I've been gassing guitar with that few years after seeing one they did make. I went with medium C neck because I like it in my Fano GF6. Only thing differing with Novo and Fano medium C is that Fano has compound radius from 7,25 to 9,5 and Novo is 9,5. The pickguard is Aged pearloid.
I went with extra light distress on this. The neck is bit "worn" and I just love the feel of it. It is so smooth to play. One thing that also feels really smooth is the mastery trem and bridge. It's been like five years that I've played guitar with Mastery as my Fano has some other JM type trem&bridge on it and now I feel that I should at least upgrade the bridge on it.
I have been playing guitars with single coils, JM-style, P90 and firebird pickups almost 5 years exclusively and my settings on my amps&pedals needed some adjustments to match the buckers. After adjustments were done I really loved the tone I was getting. After all I played SG standard and AV '72 thinline tele a lot and those two were my first better guitars so humbuckers feel a bit like home. I've never tried low wind Imperials that do seem to get much love here, but I can say that I wouldn't want to change a thing in this guitar.

Nice! Congratulations on this! I’m glad that Mr. Fano and some other manufacturers are getting a little more adventurous with finishes. The fade effect is fun! What amp are you playing all of those nice guitars through?

Extremely beautiful! Congrats! Looks like the strings have significant break angle on the bridge, is the neck pocket angled?

Neck pocket is angled.
I have Bad Cat black cat 30r and also Helix LT. I have small kids at House so most of the time I use helix and monitor it with pair of genelecs. That setup sounds better when I have volume restrictions than black cat that sounds amazing at loud volumes.

Wow! That is a rather lovely finish. I was well impressed with the build quality and play-ability of my Miris J. It feels like an old glove and has been my go to guitar for writing and recording!

That old glove description is so accurate! I hope to also own Miris one day.

Absolutely love the Serus J and the concept of having just about any finish you ever dreamed of.
How long was your wait on it?

My wait was little less than a year. I was quoted 12 month wait so it was excactly as promised even though their place was shut down for few months due to covid restrictions.
Now that they have dropped the dealers out and you order them directly I have heard about 9 months wait time recently.

Yeah I was just quoted 6-9 months very recently.Kihtaristi wrote: ↑Sun Sep 06, 2020 11:31 pmMy wait was little less than a year. I was quoted 12 month wait so it was excactly as promised even though their place was shut down for few months due to covid restrictions.

I was too wary of any Aussie $ exchange rate fluctuations and the wopping import charges I'd likely have to deal with
The AUD is already pretty crap and 6-9 month is enough time to see it fluctuate further south.
In the end, it was probably just going to be too rich for my blood.
I was a bit bummed, I had a charcoal frost, tort, P-90, no distress build in mind

I can't decide whether I love that finish or hate it.
I think it probably falls into the "maybe not for me, but I'm glad somebody has done it" category. Always nice to see people push the boat out a little bit rather than do same-old same-old all the time.

That looks great! Congrats!
If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...

Congrats. It’s always fun when we land these “milestone” guitars. I’ve had a few of them and regretfully let most of them go on. My aim at this next phase in my life is to hang on to the next one I get.
It looks like you got a good one. Something one of a kind to be proud of. I’ve always wanted to try buckers with an offset trem. I’ve got some wrhbs in my JM build, but actual PAFs would be interesting to feel and hear.

How is this guitar doing a year or so down the road?
I have to say...I like everything about these guitars. They are awesome looking and sound great (at least in the vids).
