Right, but they also still had the correct part being made at the same time, just labeled for Cyclone.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 6:29 pmIt would be interesting to find out out how the crap version came to be. There's no deviation in the design with any vintage Mustangs, not even the 70s Mustangs.
So, yeah I'm going with, they screwed up the CAD file at some point, over the last decade.

Re: Mustang control plate shape complaining!
I ordered it and just got it in the mail. To my disappointment, its the wrong shape. I now have two of these abominations. Why is this so complicatedCROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 6:27 pmYep, that one is correct.gerardguey wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 4:40 pmSo by that information, I think this plate is the correct shape, looking at the serial number. So, the American Performer uses a part labeled as "13 PLATE CONTROL CYCLONE 0053718000" while the original Vintera uses "8 CONTROL PLATE MUSTANG 0094867000" and the Ben Gibbard seems to use the same plate ("7 CONTROL PLATE MUSTANG 0094867000").
Why even have two different parts for the same thing?

Im gonna contact them and see if they have the correct ones, hoping its just an error.

That's the frustrating thing. The people selling them can't even tell the difference.

I was able to get a refund thankfully but I'm resorting to messaging sellers with your comparison diagram to show the difference. So far no one has acknowledged the difference lol.

I've never tried to return one of the weird ones. The thought of trying to explain the difference to somebody that doesn't even like Mustangs, was too much.
here's the most recent good one I've bought. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the link, I'll give that one a try.ThePearDream wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 3:37 pmI've never tried to return one of the weird ones. The thought of trying to explain the difference to somebody that doesn't even like Mustangs, was too much.

But yeah no, I feel like a total karen right now lol. I literally NEVER return anything and usually just make do, but with the price tag of 25 bucks and it being my second of these plates, I couldn't live with myself having more of these. Also they had another cheaper mustang plate for sale that is photographed as the other weird shape, so I assumed they just got mixed up, but it wasn't the case sadly.

Also, on a lark, I found a listing on AliExpress that looked right so I ordered a few. Damn if they aren't the same plate with the same stamp on the back. LOL Sooooo, I ordered another 10 to throw on my Reverb store for quick US shipping.

@GilmourD Any chance for the Aliexpress link? Seeing as I live so nearby the source, seems more efficient than ordering from the States.
Here's my 2022 MIJ traditional mustang. I had noticed that the alignment at the top next to the pickguard was off, but now I can't unsee the other wonkiness.

Surely! Just make sure you don't accidentally select the Marauder plate!BDB303 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 4:57 pm@GilmourD Any chance for the Aliexpress link? Seeing as I live so nearby the source, seems more efficient than ordering from the States.
