Youtube is drowning right now in shop demos of APII strats and teles. Maybe someone will think the JM worthy of a demo later in the day ....

Notably, they misstate that the upper controls are the same as the traditional rhythm circuit.

Middy, muddy, overwound sounding pickups. And did I hear correctly that the coil tap only exists for the bridge?
The only things that interest me are the dark night colour and the vibrato, and neither were shown here.
Seriously, they redesigned the offset vibrato for the first time in 62 years, and their official demo doesn't even touch the vibrato once?
Sigh. This is why I don't buy new Fenders. Maybe I'll pick up a dark night body for a build, otherwise this is an easy pass for me.

I agree.....manwithtitties wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 4:00 amThats cool but nowhere near as cool as the previous mystic seafoam. That was the best new fender color in a long time imo.
Having said that, the Mystic Surf Green looks pretty good with the maple neck too. Never Liked maple on Jazzmasters but Mystic Seafoam changed that for me. The Reverb photo of the Mystic Surf posted above looks bluish to me - reminds me of aged Ice Blue Metallic or even some pix I've seen of aged Firemist Silver.......which I like.
Anyway, I am glad Fender has introduced some interesting/eye-catching new colors. Seems like for years all the "new" colors were just boring shades of browns, tans, etc. - very few greens & blues.

Ryan/60CycleHum has just posted an unboxing/demo of the Pro II JM on his YT channel...

The Mystic Surf Green looks pretty sweet with a maple neck.

I see the new USA professional II up on fender website for pre order! Best quote I’ve had on UK release is start December.. I’ve ordered the Dark Night colour variation. Genuinely excited for the new vibrato Design, bronze mustang bridge, locking tuners, interesting pickups and tonal options. Anyone else excited for these or just me? Haha

I wonder when I can get that bronze bridge by itself. I cannibalized my am pro jag bridge for my player jag. Maybe this was mentioned, but are there no am pro jag 2s?

That vibrato definitely dives farther. I really want to see someone pull it out and look at the mechanics of that. If it can dive deeper while still being as stable as a regular Offset vibrato, they'll definitely have a winner and I'd consider picking one up as an aftermarket part to try out.DarnWeight wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 10:25 amRyan/60CycleHum has just posted an unboxing/demo of the Pro II JM on his YT channel...

Seeing these YouTube demos now, the maple neck on the new Mystic Surf Green AMII seems a bit more tinted/amber than that lighter, untinted neck on the first-generation Mystic Seafoam model. I like both, but the tinted maple pairs nicely with that new green color. I normally don't go for the artificial aging or any sort of "relic" work, but there are exceptions.
I do think a rosewood one would look really nice on this. Remember those Fender Marauder necks from a few years ago? At one point, 1-3 years ago, there were always tons of them on eBay, with undrilled heels. They were 9.5", dark rosewood, a large headstock (maybe not even traditional Jazzmaster, but larger than a Strat) and with just a simple, lone spaghetti script Fender logo on the headstock. That would look amazing on this guitar. I don't see them on eBay anymore, and I regret not buying one two years ago just to have on standby for a nice parts build.
Ryan's demo on 60 Cycle Hum was fun to watch. He's about the only YouTuber who does the surf thing on all his demos/playing, so I'll always watch them. I can only take so much fifth-fret blues noodling and dissonant Sonic Landscapes™ from all the others...
