Fender Vintera 60s Modified Jaguar HH - Impressions?
Hi everyone
I'm about to pull the trigger on a Vintera HH Jaguar and I would really appreciate any feedback from anyone who has experience with this model, as I could not find much information online and my local shops do not carry it. Apart from the overall build quality my main concern are the Atomic humbuckers. They were horrid on an American Special strat I used to own, but hopefully they will work better here?
I was spilt between this one and the Kurt Cobain Jaguar, but I have no use for the dual volume controls and I also like having the coil splitting ability of the Vintera HH. Also, I already have a sunburst Jaguar and the Sonic Blue finish looks stunning.
Thanks.

I eyed it as well, yet the colors aren't really my thing.
Purely looks I'd go gor the Cobain one

You might want to go for the Original 60s. That's also a 9.5 yet no humbucker.

I have the AO 60s. It is my main and #1 guitar
This will be my first humbucker Jaguar, hence the dilemma.

Check out this video: https://youtu.be/33OXLkpp-1Y
I don't have this Vintera myself, but Aram's video for the Player Jag gave me an accurate representation of the tones to expect before I pulled the trigger on my Player.

Aah!
I was doubting between the Cobain one and this one.
I actually hoped for a new AmPro Jaguar, but due to bad sales it was removed from the line.
What would weigh in more? The short scale aspect or the humbucker?
As, for humbuckers you'd have A LOT of alternatives.
A Les Paul to name one plays actually pretty awesome.

If you get the Vintera and don't end up liking the Atomics, you can stick a pair of DiMarzio's in there and have the Cobain sound for less than Cobain money. There are tons of different humbuckers.

That's exactly what I've been thinking to do. Not sure if the pot values, etc, are exactly the same though, tried to find the spec sheet for the Vintera HH on the Fender site, no luck.

I haven't played the new Vintera modified Jaguar but AFAIK they should be pretty much an updated version of the Classic Player jaguar HH.
I own a CP Jaguar HH from 2012 (in olympic white) and I absolutely love it.
I have read though that the CP pick ups maybe a bit hotter than the new Vintera mod.
Otherwise, it looks the same. Mine is very versatile in sound with the split hum buckers and to my ears the single coils also do their job.
the guitar is well built and has a really nice neck.
In fact although I am more inclined towards a Jaguar with more traditional pick ups these days I don't think i could ever sell it or trade it.
It just feels so great to play.

I'm a little surprised that there aren't more Jazzmasters with PAF type humbuckers. Seems like a no-brainer for those of us who want a full 25.5" scale.
But I'm also surprised that Jaguars haven't been bumped up to 24.75 with a back tilted headstock to control the string flop that made me eventually abandon mine for JMs. That Powercaster went over like a fart in church, though. I could never even find one to try out...

Aside from pickups, the scale length is the most distinctive thing mechanically with the Fender short-scales. Upping that would have a pretty bit impact on the sound and feel that would throw off existing fans and not necessarily bring in any new ones, so it's kind of a lose-lose situation for Fender. Tiltback headstocks are definitely something that I miss in Fender guitars, to the point where my upcoming parts build is gonna have one. It's just plain better for trems, and it's pretty easy to work around the durability issues they can give you without making a lot of compromises if you're smart.tdbajus wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 3:48 pmI'm a little surprised that there aren't more Jazzmasters with PAF type humbuckers. As far as a JM with humbuckers, there used to be HH and HS Classic Players back in the day - maybe they weren't popular enough to come back. I will say though I personally prefer Jags with humbuckers to JMs with humbuckers. No particular reason, they just do.

Have they ever made a USA jazzmaster with PAF, or have they all been imports?

I'm interested in this guitar too, especially since there's no Professional II Jaguar. It's just that it doesn't come in any interesting colours

The good thing about the only two available choices, Sonic Blue and Surf Green, is that they both match pau ferro relatively well.
Other colours that I like on Jaguars such as Aztec Gold, CAR, Burgundy Mist, etc, would look horrible with a PF board.
