is it just me or does that headstock shape just look off?
For sure, it's pinched in tighter around the R or something.

also while were at it, since theyve announced these, how can they justify the player jaguar and its ugly pickguard now? even a squier has modified chrome jag plates. they should really think about redoing the player series offsets tbh.

Fender has been going with 4 year cycles lately, and I think the Player line came out in 2018, so we've probably got at least a year left.

The Johnny Marr switching is the icing on the cake.
It looks like Marr switching but it's not. It's a combination they've never done before. The Blade switch is only a 3-way. The upper switches are coil-tap (not coil split ... or maybe they got the marketing text wrong) and series/parallel.

I think they've just gone with the Jazzmaster headstock shape.
I like both so doesn't worry me that much.

When I glanced at the specs I saw "something something series/parallel" and ran with it! Thanks for the info.

Do you guys think that this SQR Atómic Pickups are the same that the Ones that they put in the Paranormal series but rebranded? Or they Will have a more Modern tone?

The only good humbucker Fender/Squier have ever made is the WRHB, so I expect that whatever they are, if you care enough about humbuckers to ask, they'll be pretty dreadful.

It comes to the point where I'm instead looking at a Squier with a stop-tail. I
It's crazy how Fender just can't release guitars that people seem to want.

The headstock logos make it look odd because the "AR" in the Jaguar text is shorter (further to the left) than on the MIM Fender Jag I have for comparison. It's not much but the A should be over the indent rather than the R.

This is a borderline decision or me as well. The atomic humbuckers look identical to the Toronado Squier introduced last year as part of the Paranormal line (also crafted in China, BTW) . I love the control options but the hardtail makes me wish they just put a generic classic vibe trem on there so we'd have the option of switching it out to a Panoramic as an aftermarket upgrade. It seems Fender is holding on to that Panoramic trem tightly as a premium feature.

Lastly, that is not Fender skyburst metallic. Fender had that on the Limited run Jazzmaster with 1-pc rosewood neck last year. I played it in person at CME and it is a beautiful guitar. The Squier skyburst is more of a mint burst.

If you zoom it enough you can see a SQR white logo over The Jag’s pickups, what make me hope that they arent the same that the atomic ones of the Paranormal. I asume that they are the same of the New Contemporary FR Strat, but covered.

Actually, there's been a Fender Jag HH with a Gibson bridge/tailpiece in production continuously since 1993-ish. The MIJ Special Edition Jag HH overlapped with the Blacktop Jag HH. Then after the Blacktop series folded Fender doubled-down with the Blacktop Special/Limited/FSR Jag HH which is now the Player Series Limited Edition Jag HH.
Since there are several Jags w/trems $700-$1100 now they're probably clearing out the model range and getting a consistent seller down into the higher-end Squier range.

Looking forward to this guitar tbh, might put 13s on it and play it in D or C# standard

damn it, when I saw these a few days ago I couldn't care less.

now I'm constantly looking at the gold one trying to make excuses with myself for not buying it right away.

there are a few things I don't like (black nut, black headstock, the neck in general) but I'm curious about the general layout configuration.
In your opinion would this come as close as you can get to an SG in a Fender fashion (shorter scale, double humbucker, TOM+stopbar in an offset form factor)?

Agree on the neck. I don't mind the black headstock, but I just wish it was all maple.

The Toronado is probably closest Fender to an SG, with the 2x tone and 2x volume and HH config. Just doesn't have the bridge & tailpiece.
