i should mention due to brexit, import/export tax is at like 25% of the items worth or sometimes higher.
I should probably know this, but I'm not sure what the current situation is between Canada and Britain. I ordered my bass on January 27th but it didn't ship until February 2nd because they found a small area of damage in the finish during packing and we went back and forth for a few days figuring out what to do about it (it was the only one in stock, they weren't getting more, and I got it at a sale price already, but they ended up adding a strap and some accessories for free).

Brexit was official on the 31st as far as I'm aware, so I'm not sure if my bass would have been pre- or post-Brexit if it was charged on the 27th but only left on the 2nd.

I only paid the standard 13% HST for my province on import. Either I squeaked in just under the wire, or instrument orders to Canada were unaffected by additional duties.

Export price should be £300 without the VAT tax. £143 seems like an exorbitant amount for shipping from UK to Canada.
Yeah, I just rang it through "for science" and the price, shipped to my door in Canada, is £379.82/$648 CAD. The guitar came up as £315.83 with £63.99 shipping, which is frankly an amazing price considering my bass made it door to door from UK to Canada in only 4 or 5 days.

Of course, this means I now have the guitar sitting there, in a cart, with my address already filled, and the reasonable price just staring me in the face. I really don't need another Jaguar.

....right?
So going all the way in the checkout removes the VAT, and it's 380 pounds/650 CAD plus the 18% at my door. Which isn't terrible considering it's being delivered to my door. But I think I'll wait for the Contemporary Jaguar to hit the stores instead... wherever that may be.

Honestly, I'm surprised they didn't sell out faster. There's like...no availability of many new models to begin with, the used market has gone apeshit, the colours are cool as heck, and they're at nearly the bottom rung of the Offset price ladder. Plus, the purple JMs from the last run were hitting the used market and going for more than they cost new within a couple of weeks. It seems like a pretty safe purchase for anyone interested in a cool-looking offset. Even with shipping etc, I bet nobody is going to lose money if they have trouble bonding with theirs and decide to instantly sell it.

Anyone here know how the pickups in the shell pink jag stack up against the av65's in the Fender 60's Lacquer MIM Jag and the Squier VM Jags (2012)?

Soundbites available anywhere?

You could hardly hear the pink jag in the Andertons demo, it sounded a bit weak and shrill but that may have been the mix.

Owned a VM Jag when they first came out but it felt pretty stiff, cheap and lifeless. How do the CV jags compare?

mine from last year sounds slightly nicer compared to the vm i sold with more clarity on the bridge pickup. the puisheen setup video has some good demo bits.

New strings make a world of difference. Raised the bridge up a load. So that's all stable now.

Still haven't plugged it in. Wife is working at home and kid has baseball or scouts every night. I got no time to be loud lately

I have both - my VM Jag was modded a bit - swapped out the (lifeless to me) stock pickups for a set of Fender Pure Vintage '65 pickups - now it's a keeper. Didn't hurt that it was my first full refinish effort (sherwood green), so I'm emotionally invested in it. The VM Jag has a rosewood fretboard, which is nice.

I got a used CV '70s Jag ltd. edition daphne blue a couple of weeks ago. I was thinking I'd have to swap out the stock pickups but I actually like the stock pickups fine. Maybe one day I'll put some Novak JAG-V pickups in it but I'm in no hurry. The block inlays and binding are nice. I can take or leave block inlays, but I'm impressed with the binding. It was done well. As this Jag comes with a Laurel fretboard, I immediately wiped down the board with boiled linseed oil to "rehydrate" it. Looks quite nice. Like the VM Jag, it's a keeper.

Both have decent necks, with the CV Jag slightly slimmer, but still comfortable.

I've a slightly contrarian opinion of this guitar, as I have one of the standard run Surf Green ones (from middle of last year). I ordered mine straight from Fender, and despite the fact that there was an "inspected by" card included with all the little checkboxes ticked, the guitar needed quite a bit of work to make it tip-top: fret ends were pokey and a bit rough on the surface, neck had no shim, fretboard was dry as a bone, intonation was a bit off, and the nut slots needed cleaning up. Oh and the trem had that click caused by poor finishing of the pivot plate (or whatever it's called), and Fender managed to forget to include the trem bar as well (although they readily provided one after I emailed them). I pretty much followed all the guidance in that Puisheen video review of the guitar and now it plays pretty nicely and sounds great, but in the meantime I got a used AO for a good price and wow the difference is huge. YMMV of course :-)
