I like the purple paint but not how they have used it. I'd like to see it on a Jazz Bass with a maple fretboard and black blocks

Great — thank you! Any idea if these will fit the squier? It mentions that it fits the American 62 reissue.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 10:25 pm

Yes, these pickguards do typically fit Squier Jaguars.
May need some filing here and there.

I find coloured pearloid the wrong kind of tacky.
Sparkle though? That's the right kind of tacky.
Quickguards doesn't have a sample of a Jaguar in that colour but they have a Jag guard and purple sparkle blanks, so I'm willing to bet they would make you one.

Same. I have a J Mascis Fender JM, but I really prefer that purple over the JMJM “purple.”mbene085 wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 5:11 pmI'm much less excited about that purple Jag than I'd have expected. Between the wrong size blocks, PF fretboard, unmatched headstock and the awful clash between cheap tort and that purple, it's way uglier than I'd expect to find such a perfect shade of purple. I love that body but I'd have to change the neck and pickguard immediately.
The pink Jag, though? Matching headstock, dots, tasteful pickguard. I'd rock that as-is. If the purple got the dots and matching headstock, I'd be compelled to buy an entirely unnecessary Jaguar. I just love that shade of purple, and this will be the second time I'm letting it pass me by.

Re: Squier CV pink and purple Jags
I actually had a "purple" JMJM, and sold/traded it a few months ago when the prices spiked so high that I realized I could fund a custom purple build with plenty left over. I got more for it locally than I paid for my '66 D&B Jag in 2017. I actually see more on the market online now at lower prices, so I must have picked the right moment.fuzzjunkie wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 9:39 amSame. I took this photo next to a purple jag body I sold to RIORIO shortly before I traded the JMJM.
It just wasn't a purple guitar. I actually loved the way it looked and played, but it simply wasn't worth the price it fetched so I don't regret selling it. I still haven't started a purple build with the money, but probably will at some point.
Purple must be achieved.

Just get the Squier man. Change out the neck and guard and you are set.
Mine arrives tomorrow. My main guitar is a walnut Jaguar that I very carefully commissioned and put together and that cost more than five times what this Squier costs, so I am interested in how they will compare. My guess is that it will be the periodic and harsh reminder that it is all about the player.

Congrats, I bet that purple will look awesome in person.mediocreplayer wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 11:03 amJust get the Squier man. Change out the neck and guard and you are set.

My main reason for passing on this though is that I have way too many Jags. Two vintage refins, my MIJ that was my first offset, and a hardtail MIJ that I tried selling and got cold feet about because it just plays too damn well. I've got vintage single coils, Kinmans, Novak Guyatone goldfoils, and PAF-sized firebirds in them. They're all awesome colours and every single one has a matching headstock (CFM, blue sparkle, OLB, Gunmetal blue).
Jaguars were my original offset love affair and have been my main guitars for nearly 20 years, but at a certain point I have to realize I've gotten everything I want out of the design. That's why I abandoned the purple thinline build and sold the body to RIO. I'm too attached to all of mine to sell any at this point, and they're all way too pretty to consider refinishing purple.
I'll figure out some way to get a nice shade of purple into my lineup at some point though. It just won't be a Jag. It's beyond a first world problem - it's a "guitar hoarder problem," though I suspect OSGers can empathize.

I'm a sucker for purple finishes... nothing a pickguard swap can't fix. Are those Andertons-only?

The purple looks pretty good, almost looks blue-ish in this video.
But CME still doesn't know that the the rhythm circuit switch is not the neck pickup position.

Re: Squier CV pink and purple Jags
Indeed. I almost sold mine a few times when I saw how high the prices have gone. I keep convincing myself it’s close enough and just needs a black pick guard and real JM pickups, probably Lollar.
On closer inspection this Jaguar looks too blue, I prefer a bit of red, just not as much as the JMJM. Fender hasn’t got purple right yet, for me at least, but it could just be the lighting. I keep looking at custom colors by well known refinishers and I am wary of them too.
