Johnny Marr Sherwood Green color question
Is the Johnny Marr Sherwood Green the lighter Sherwood green or the darker version? I've seen so many different photos in different lighting conditions so it's really hard to tell.

Welcome to the world of Sherwood green. I swear it changes color in its case.

The Sherwood Green with the CV Squiers is a bit odd. But I think the Sherwood Green on the Johnny Marrs might be darker than regular Fender S.G.?Maggieo wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 10:58 amBoth guitars are Sherwood green, honest!

Re: Johnny Marr Sherwood Green color question
Green Arrow and Oliver are cute names for that pair!
But they illustrate pretty well how non-standardized Sherwood is. I don't think there have ever been two Sherwood guitars from two different models that were identical. The 60s colour is nothing like the AVRI colour, which is nothing like the CV, Marr, or MIJ Hybrid colour. They're all a different shade.
I like the AVRI the most, probably because it was my introduction to the colour, followed by the MIJ and Marr. I'm less into the lighter shades, though the CV version is pretty nice since it just makes it partway toward OTM which I also love.
The Marr looks amazing though, even if I still feel adamantly that tort makes SWG look like a Christmas ornament and should be banished for 11 months of the year. White, parchment and (vintage-accurate) mint look best on it IMO.
The artist formerly known as mbene085.

That CV strat with the tort is gorgeous! I wish I'd bought one of those when they were available.
It's definitely a different shade of green than the JM jaguar. I like to think of it as a 50's green to the Marr 60's green.
Anyway, Green is Green to me whether Sherwood, Forest, British Racing etc...
May the Fuzz be with you

Re: Johnny Marr Sherwood Green color question
There's mainly two Sherwood Greens. The one you see in the Classic Vibe a few posts above is the "DuPont Sherwood Green" which has a lighter, slightly blue tinge to it. The Johnny Marr sig, as well as most modern-spec Fenders, should be a lusher, darker green. The DuPont color tends to be brought out in vintage-style models like the Classic Vibe 50's Strat and the Original 60's Jazzmaster but the logic is not 100% consistent - the '57 AVRIs have the DuPont color, but the '62 AVRIs have the lusher one.

The CV Strat looks for damn sure a lot more like OTM. I don’t even know if what shade I prefer is the right one or not, though. Ones like the Marr and that one posters 66 custom shop dream guitar that are darker green are my preference, but it seems like the historical ones were more of a blue

Part of the color difference is the white balance had to pick which guitar would be truest to color. Here's Oliver alone:Mechanical Birds wrote: ↑Fri May 21, 2021 3:24 am

It's definitely the lighter 50s version, which makes sense, as the guitar is a 50s CV.
