did anyone else here see the bone stock AVRI jaguar for sale at $2800 usd on the verb? did your eyeball and/or vein above your freaking eyeball start twitching? people are way out of pocket rn with their pricing. that jaguar - by the way - was a sunburst. not custom color, not FSR. nothing rare about it.

i guess it is possible this is the permanent new normal w. respect to the price gouging. what do you all think?

Did it sell for that price? You can get a 65 TS for less

.

Prices will only go up ... look up the effects of hyperinflation.

There will be a time you'll tell you buddies over $30 beers, 'man I should have bought that Jaguar because they are now $28,000'.

I think when the economy goes down the drain that we may see prices drop.

Possibly. There's nothing stopping Fender from replacing the Original 60's line with another AVRI run.

I have a hunch that Fender hates us

And they hate lacquer finishes. I remember watching the Fender play live with Mike Adams and he mentioned his thin nitro finish and they put the kibosh on that right away and told them to move on.

I don’t think they hate us, but it must be a little frustrating having your previous output being some of your biggest competition.

Here in the UK things seem to have mainly raised in the vintage section from what I can tell. And by a massive amount. I bought an AV65 in reasonable condition for £1400 in 2017 and just a few weeks ago an AVRI62 needing a little work for £1500. That seemed pretty reasonable by my standards. Maybe I got lucky though.

Then you look at things like 70s Mustangs for example... People are wanting £1500-2000 for a beat one all of a sudden and, for instance, a CAR JM or Jag seems to be 8k+ suddenly!! And Refins are 5k+. Absolute madness.
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

Supply and demand - people haven't had holiday s this year - they've saved on their travel to work costs and been treating themselves to the guitars of their dreams. You can still pick up a bargain - but you have to be quick ! i agree that some are well overpriced - there was 62JM on Reverb the other day for £10k!! really? who would pay that?

We have this conversation every 6 months :D

The supply for vintage and out-of-production guitars will never go up, so the only thing that can change is that people stop wanting them. What usually happens is that vintage junkies will move on to less desirable guitars (like erm Jaguars and Jazzmasters a couple decades ago) that are still in higher supply. I've had a watch for a 90s MIM Duo Sonic reissue and they've gone up from $300 to $600 or so over the past year, just cause the supply is dwindling.

Even for only recently discontinued guitars, people seem to think there's a steady pool in the "used market" but the fact is that guitars get destroyed or find forever homes, so there's always a net negative in available used guitars of a certain model over time.

It also used to be the case that you could find insane deals from pawnshops and the like where people don't know what they have, but that's disappearing today as well for obvious reasons.

Electric guitars have never been more accessible and affordable than they are now, but if you MUST have that AVRI or AV65 or whatever specific guitar from a specific year and will accept no substitutes, you have to buy it sooner than later.

It's not just second hand stuff. A couple of months ago I was seriously eying a Squier CV J bass. Partly because I'd like a decent bass to play with, partly because Daphne Blue is a much nicer colour than Squier usually have for basses, partly because ~£320 seemed a fair price.

I put it off in favour of sensible purchases like a sofa (which is kinda halfway between Daphne Blue and OTM if you're wondering), looked at the bass again today, and it's now £399.

And to cap it all off, the sofa still hasn't arrived yet, so I can't sit down and deal with it.

Obviously £80 is just noise when you're looking at the variability of high end prices, but in relative terms it's a lot - 25% increase isn't negligible.

I feel like I go to the store for some beer and it's all fucking pale ale and pale ale sucks anyway and it all costs $12 a six pack or even worse a four pack, and I realize that money just doesn't go as far as it used to. Somewhere along the line everything got more expensive and I didn't end up making any more money.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Luckily the 4 pack 12 oz bottle trend seems to be mostly dead.

I'm ok with 4 packs of 16oz cans though. That is 64oz vs the 72oz in a standard 6 pack. A 16 oz beer can quench my thirst, a 12 oz beer just teases it.
