Re: Sonic gray Am Pro JM project (finished pg. 2)
I finally got the body from the luthier and it's now got standard JM cavity routes. After a bunch of assembly yesterday, it is a functional guitar. I still have to dial in the setup and I don't think I properly grounded the bridge pickup. Here's the pics:

If Fender were building guitars like this, some of us might still be interested. Nice build - it turned out really well.

That looks fantastic - as good as any factory job I've seen.

Just checking in to say how much I adore sonic gray, hope it turns out well. It’d look so great with a really aged maple neck too.

I would not have thought that color combination would be particularly attractive (to me), but that is a really beautiful JM!
Although I generally prefer vintage look and specs and have a couple such Jazzmasters, I also love my Mystic Seafoam/maple AmPro JM as a different flavor.
Again, gorgeous guitar - great job!

I'm not usually a fan of Maple necks on JMs, but this is absolutely gorgeous. I love it.

I have paused with interest when seeing these gray jazzy's. I like them quite a bit. I wish Fender would keep the cavity routing normal and just use different guards so modders could just swap a different pickguard on. Not like there isn't enough cavity space and would save them CAD time when pushing out bodies. Also would cut some weight down to keep that lower routing even if it isn't being used.

That guitar looks great across the board! The body color is one of the coolest that I've ever seen, and the pickguard and white plastics just bring it all together! FANTASTIC!

Looks *really* nice.
To me (and this will be due to my age), it has an 80s feel - like Midge Ure’s Ibanez with the fretboard painted to match…
