Check out the December issue of Guitar Buyer they did an article on the Herbie Flowers 1960 Jazz Bass. They used me as the technical resource on the finish and other notable features of this historic Bass. For those of you that dont know this bass it is one of the first Jazz Basses and is an original factory Lake Placid Blue over Fiesta Red, and one of the ONLY original metallic finishes I have ever seen that was NOT clear coated. The other big oddity I uncovered was Herbie claimed he got this in late 1959 at Manny's in NYC, but when they gave me the pictures of the bass I noted that the decal was NOT a 59/60 decal, as it had Patents one of which was in 1962. It turned out that he had a new Decal applied while doing a George Harrison album.
I was just given permission form the publisher to post the pictures so will try to post the pictures of this bass soon... it is definitely a cool article.
