Fender American Vintage/American Original colors?
Is anyone aware of a site, posting, etc, that shows the different colors that Fender has offered over the years on their American Vintage/American Original lines, and when those colors were offered? Like, that they offered the AO Jaguar in Candy Apple Red from 2018 to 2020. I’ve looked around, both on here, as well as other forums and sites, but haven’t really found anything that lists that out. I’m particularly interested in Jaguar colors at the moment, but also curious about other models/colors.
Thanks!
Thanks!

We really were spoiled for choice with the AVRI62 line. We’ll never see that large variety of finish options again on any vintage reissue series.

Black, Sunburst and White were from the beginning to the end of the AVRI62 Jaguars (1999-2012).snarf wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 1:37 pm

Sherwood Green, Fiesta Red and Dakota Red were from 1999-2001 (Dakota Red is very rare, it seems they did not make many).
Inca Silver was only offered in 2001 (close to Dakota Red, in terms of rarity).
The rest were each made for several years, from 2002-2010.
As regards AV65 Jaguars, they made them in Sunburst and CAR from the beginning to end of the run (2012-2018).
Ice Blue metallic (the only color offered with a matching headstock!) was only made in 2013 (only a couple hundred made). Sonic Blue was an FSR in 2013 or 2014, only a few hundred of those were made as well.

I JagBlaster'd a minty one of these last year then was disappointed and sold it and, looking back, I wish I hadn't fucked with it - and just kept it. Classic regrets...I've got more than a few of those.sunburster wrote: ↑Wed Sep 21, 2022 12:04 amIce Blue metallic (the only color offered with a matching headstock!) was only made in 2013 (only a couple hundred made).

Works great. Also makes it easy to go back and find old photos you might want to link again, like this Aztec Gold AV65 that I probably shouldn't have sold two years ago:

Wow, yours was in incredibly better condition than mine (that I sold last year)
That guitar served me very well though.

I got all in my head about not wanting to play a gold guitar. It just didn't seem right. Totally stupid, because it was a phenomenal Jazzmaster the likes of which I might not see again. It just played so well.
Looking at it with that mint guard, it really looked alright. Trouble is, I only put that on around the time I sold it. It came to me with a gold guard, which was just way too much gold, and I think it just formed this initial impression of not liking its looks that I never quite shook:
So I never played it as much as I should have, and only stuck the mint guard on when I pulled off the Staytrem to sell it.

Re: Fender American Vintage/American Original colors?
Thank you! This is great info; I'd wondered about this. I'd seen a CAR AO Jag recently, but I'd only seen the seafoam green and daphne blue thus far.
It really seems hard to find info on years for the colors. Back in the 90s, I bought a 3TSB American Vintage Jazz Bass. I really wanted a Lake Placid Blue one, but those were impossible to find. I'd call some shops, and they'd say that Fender had stopped selling them in LPB, and other shops would be all "they sell them; they're just hard to get."

Oh man. I'd love an Ice Blue with a matching headstock! First choice would be LPB w matching headstock, but since that's not a thing, I'd take an Ice Blue one!
