Such a great colour in those photos. A lefty MIA thinline Tele would be amazing.
Actually, I’d even take one of the mij with proper pickups. Even though it would only be available in natural finish.
Ah, and even if I ever have the money to buy a Tele Deluxe it’ll probably have to be natural or Jimmy brown. So few around in black.
Enough of the pity party. Congrats Maggie, I’m excited to see photos & hear your thoughts when it arrives!

I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Lovely! I really don’t know what to do… Jazzmaster is my favourite guitar, I already have a 60s lacquer and now I would like to pull the trigger for an AmPro2 or an AO60s, planning to upgrade pickups for both, and bridge also for AO… But this tele looks gorgeous, and doesn’t need upgrades…

Easy choice- buy the Tele. Unless you really, really want vibrato.mixed_states wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 3:24 amLovely! I just got one of the LPB '66 Jazzmasters. I was very concerned about the QC issues I'd read about but when I saw this one in the store it was absolutely perfect. It plays and sounds superb through my Princeton, as good as any I've played before. I've had an AV65, an AVRI and a CS before and this is of equal quality and finish etc. The paint job is flawless with no dings or file marks and the dots are installed perfectly.
This has been my dream guitar for a long time and to finally have a LPB B+B Jazzmaster is pretty special.

Glad to hear that. I think the original batch may have been rushed, but as I expected the QC would catch up eventually. I anticipate these are every bit as good as anything else aside from a few minor imperfections on the first few through productionJazzmasterJonny wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 5:45 amI just got one of the LPB '66 Jazzmasters. Couldn't agree more. I decided to go with the AO60 instead of the AVII because of cost and QC. Found a great deal on a new AO60 from a reputable store and couldn't be happier. Great quality, feels and sounds great, and paid just slightly more than an AmProII.Powdered Toast Man wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 1:48 pmSame. I'll die on the hill that the AO60's line in particular are the best instruments I've laid hands on. I've got a SB AO60's JM and aside from maybe a paint colour option there's nothing compelling about the AVii lines that would make me want to buy one.superficial wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 7:58 amHowever, I am feeling slightly better about buying my AO recently

I was idly looking at the AVII '77 Tele Custom today and amused/bemused by the bizarre spec/QC variations.
Historically, the 70s Tele Custom was a slab body without a belly cut (unlike the Tele Deluxe), which is consistent with the Fender stock photos and some of the AVII models in the wild, e.g. the four in stock at Wildwood right now.
However, there seem to be plenty (even most?) out there with a belly cut!

https://reverb.com/au/item/64154598-fen ... ne-w-maple
https://reverb.com/au/item/63686895-fen ... lbs-11-3oz
Also, some wild neck profile variance in the models in stock at WW, with the thinnest at the 12th fret being 0.89 while another is a chunky 0.95.
It's the 'anything goes' era down at FMIC!

Whelp... time to put my money where my mouth was... That's going to be a (2nd hand) purchase for me!
Probably Fender thought "they'll never notice it that we use a slightly incorrect headstock shape for this model"... But then they bragged on the promotional video's about it being historically accurate and whatnot... and they were getting reamed for that headstock from multiple sources. I have to say: good for them that they owned up to it and corrected it to what it needs to be.
