I remember when these came out, and lusting after one at a music shop in Shrewsbury. So when one become available on another forum I was quite excited (have barely seen them around since they were available new), but sadly it was pickup only and it was a bit far away for me to get to on my single day off per week.

Well, the financial Gods clearly are intent on assisting me in ravaging my bank balance on a consistent basis, because the guy was going to the Northampton Guitar show, which I was working, so after he very kindly put it on hold for me, I now have one!

It's essentially an AV58- flash coat nitro finish, Ash body, 'clay' dots and side markers. From an old thread on here, it seems that though the spec sheet said PV65 pickups, they're actually not (bevelled pole pieces, different bobbin colour, different output). I don't know if they're the same as the AVRI range, or made for this model alone, but I'll tell myself it's the latter to make it all feel a little more special. They sound really good- the neck pickup is outstanding, and after I shimmed the bridge pickup they now balance really well.

It's very, very resonant (as is my AV65 also tbf), and also light (as is my AV65 again), and the neck is bloody wonderful. The Mastery trem and Staytrem bridge really top it all off. I've never been tempted by the Mastery stuff, but it does feel very nice.

I'm fortunate now to own 3 AV65s- JM, Jag and Strat, and a Marrguar which I guess is kinda a AV62 in essence (or 65 w/o binding?), and with this in there now I feel like I've honestly got the best iteration of all of those now. I absolutely love the AV series. I bought this to mark a bit of a personal milestone (1 year off booze and other bad things), so it feels a bit more significant than the usual purchase. Those, along with my '62ri Custom Tele, and 2 very nice nitro Tokai LPs (Silverburst Custom and '56 Goldtop w/ P90s), I genuinely feel like I might actually have no desire to buy anything else for a long while. Thankfully that won't be hard as I'm now broke anyway ha.

Apologies for the shite picture, will get some more soon. It's got a nice amount of wear on it and I look forward to thrashing it even more. Anyone else got one of these?

This era of vintage reissues really was quite a stunning era for offsets.

I remember when they launched and the horrible GAS.

Call me boring, but that’s the ideal Jazzmaster for me.
One of these days I’ll make a partsmaster to match, or maybe splurge on an FCS version.

It's certainly a nice 'refined' counterpart to my Firemist Silver AV65, which with the WRHBs looks comparatively space-age. I do consider myself very fortunate to have 2 limited run JMs, now I've just gotta hold on to them! Beans for lunch and dinner for a few months I think, and gonna have to skip breakfast altogether...

Congrats! I've GASsed for the 60th Anniversary '58 Jazzmaster for some time. I never could find out what the neck depth @ 1st and 12th frets so I always ended up holding off. How's the neck feel for ya?

I'll see if I can get some measurements at my Saturday job within the next couple weeks! However, I'd say It's slimmer than my AV65, and both Jags. Maybe between the '62 Tele and Marr, nice and round but not 'big'... now I think about it, very similar to the L-series Jag I had off our Johnny, but slightly wider at the nut.

Congrats. These are great. I remember playing one in a shop a few years ago. I couldn’t justify taking it home and I remember thinking “I’m gonna want one of these when I can’t find them anymore”. And yes..this post reminded me that the time has come

Yeah, this one really tempted me when it first came out. Saw 2 at different stores—think only 500 were made—but didn’t try them. Congratulations and enjoy!

The specs on the neck (that were probably not published in the service manual until after the guitars had all sold out) are 'Vintage C' with 0.82"/0.90" (20.8/22.9 mm) at 1st/12th frets.

Yep, it got gigged a few days afterwards and I've been using it consistently ever since! It's a bloody keeper!
