I'm really into the pre-CBS tortoise shell...I like it on custom colours too...anodized gold is my second fave...I like that only on sunburst, blonde, fiesta red and black though

what kind of guard do you guys go for?

I voted for tortoise shell, but it has to be a vintage guard... I have yet to see a good looking recent tortoise pickguard.



But specifically on sunburst and blonde Jazzmasters, anodized gold guards are the best.

Yeah, nothing beats an original tortoise guard. There are a couple colors that I prefer to have another, but in general, tortoise all the way.

  If Jazzmaster pickguards could be changed without removing the bridge, I'd constatly be switching back and forth between tort and black on my sunburst!

For me it's depends on the color of the body, here's a few combos I'm partial to, even as unlikely as some of them are.
