Here's the "Birdseye Maple" neck on my 61' Jazzmaster, I've never been a fan of figured necks but i've come to love this one!

That's damn sweet! 

I'm the same way.  Never really been a fan, but  my 1959 JM neck is figured, though less than yours, and I've grown to like it.  Still couldn't handle it without a rosewood board though.

Here is 2 figured necks - the first 2 pics are the same neck, a refin'd 61 with unorig (and not correct) decal.
The 3rd pic is a 62 neck, all original.

I love the vintage necks with the birdseye maple...  the flamey stuff not quite as much.  I also find it interesting that these guitars just randomly made it out of the factory with various levels of figuring.  Anyway... that's a great neck.  Me jealous.

I've had a bunch of old Fenders, but none more flamey than this 63 white JM. Most Fender maple is pretty boring, but not this one (not that I particularly go for the fancy stuff....)

I LOVE the look of that neck! I think the figuring on maple necks looks WAY better with a yellowed finish. The stark, brighter color of an unstained/tinted neck doesn't look as good with figuring IMO. None of mine have any figuring

strange but i saw a squire 51 the other day with very light birds eye maple finger board! i said WTF?

the neck on my CIJ jazzmaster has a very faint flame. I really like it, it jsut gives it a little extra. Don't have pictures of it, but I don't think i can actually capture this on camera. Perhaps I'll give it a try after the holidays.
Btw, very nice necks. I didn't realized that fenders had such neck, most of the flamey guitars I've seen are over the tops PRS's, Les Pauls and the like. So I've kinda devolped the idea that flamey necks are only found on those over the top guitars, which I find horrible.
Looks nice on a fender though

I've been seeing a lot of Squiers with flamed maple necks lately, including one of the 3/4 Minis!

  I bought a sunburst Squier '51 because it had a birdseye fingerboard.  Pretty nice one, too.  I thought it might be a mistake or collectible, but I'm hearing more and more people having "sightings" so who knows...

yeah i was thinking, it is a really good way to get people to buy them!

i bet it doesn't cost fender much more money at all, it's really a great selling point!
