Kurt Cobain's 1965 lefthanded Jaguar

I can't help but notice now on Kurt's jaguar, the headstock is very small compared to other vintage mid-sixties jaguars. It has the binding but is not oversized. The decal is very different also. "Fender" is in the old spaghetti style font, and the word "Jaguar" is in a small stratocaster-type font. Some people think the decal is a repro. What do you all think?

I believe that Ernie Baily said he installed the repro decal. Jaguars never had a Spaghetti logo. I'm not sure about the headstock shape.

I'd always heard it was a Japanese Jag. Were there ever Japanese Jags with spaghetti logos?

I remember hearing that it was a '65. It was sold to I believe Ailine Vintage at some point for like $500 or something and they said it was a '65. The finish wear looks more consistent with a normal lacqer finish versus a poly finish.

There seems to be some confusion here. There were 2 jaguars. The first was his Vintage 1965 lefty that he played his whole career (1991 to 1994). After that, it went to Hole's guitarist, Eric Erlandson.
The second was a early 60's vintage (also lefty) which he must have not cared for that much because I don't think there are ANY pictures out there of him playing it live in concert.
He did not play any japanese made jaguars.
According to
http://www.kurtsequipment.com/
"The Jag had an incorrect decal under the lacquer." it doesn't say anything about Earnie installing it or it being a repro.

This is wierd, i found a logo that looks exactly like the logo kurt had on his jaguar

And the seller claimes that it's about 30 years old

, but he dont know if it's genuine fender
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Jaguar-log ... dZViewItem
maybe it's just something fender did for lefty jags?
