That's what I was saying (bad spelling and all):
Maybe there are routes under there, but they're blcoked off by some shielding or something.

I'm in agreement with the "mutt" line and assume with SY "that pretty much everything is modded for functionality over vintage correctness.
I thought that the number stamps were different on some Mustangs, Duos and Musicmasters? I know that they have "8" stamps for mid-60s, but that's for the Gibby scale necks on Mustangs and some Duos. I've also seen more "16"s than 8s on Duos and MMs. Also 9s I think, but I seem to recall the 9s being for the shorter scale ones.

that's what it comes down to.
in a way, I have always excused them for that, as they are such a hard-working band...all of the instruments are gigged and recorded all year long....these offsets have screamed in so many different time zones year in and year out, it's just ridiculous!
some are even integral parts of the songs (like the "Drifter" guitar etc)

8 = 24"
9 = 22.5"
15 = 24" post 65
16 = 22.5 post 65
These codes are the same for Mustang/Duo/MM. No originals had a true "Gibby scale" (24.75"), though the Cyclone does now.
22.5" also had 3/4 stamps prior to the use of 9, ie. 3/4 APR 63A

That'll teach me to read every post thoroughly.

It's got 3 pickups - it's a Strat!

I also thought that Thurston possibly covered the route up under the pickgaurd,but then i couldn't find one Jazzmaster that he'd done it to, so why do it to a duo? Aesthetics have never been SY forte,LOL
This is such a cool guitar and the 3 pckups in it are neato.

16 = 22.5 post 65
There's a neck on ebay now stamped 16JUL 66 B with 22 frets ... so it has to be 24" scale ? So how could 16 mean 22.5".

Oops, sorry.... my mistake. Here's the correct info:
15 = Jaguar (post 65)
16 = Mustang/MM/Duo 24" (post '65)
There weren't many 22.5" necks after '64, maybe they kept using the 9 code when the rest of the codes changed in '65. I know they were still offered until '69, but probably just leftovers.

Thanks, it's just that i bought a 16 66 B neck a few days ago on ebay and i really dont want it to be the 22.5" scale when it finally arrives. I was afraid for a few minutes.
