Interesting copy.  That tremelo looks like it would be rather rough, but at least they have shell pink.

That's actually vintage white.

I wouldn't do it man... that vibrato looks unusable. Those pickups don't look JM sized either, I think. Just looks kinda cheap, but I dunno.

The frontal picture of the white looks pink, but in the pic of the back it looks white.

Yeah, this deffinitely isn't a spot on copy, which is understandable. It deffinitely looks better than the SX jazzmaster thing that Rondo is selling.

And yeah, it looks like shell pink. The only reason I knew it wasn't is because it said vintage white.

Yeah, there's some weird lighting going on in that photo.

Haha... I think it looks pretty cool for the price!

I'll bet a Fender-style neck would bolt right up, but I wonder if an AV trem would fit in there?

Is that a tuna-matic I see?

Apparently it's some Alden/Wilkinson Roller-Ma-Jig

That's the kind of guitar you buy for cheap and spend a fortune on upgrading... to the point where you have more in it than what the guitar you originally wanted would have cost you.

Sounds dumb.... but we've all been there!

:)

Ahhh... you actually read the auction. Thanks!

Things Wrong

- SLide Switches instead of Rollers (I dunno what they do)
- Pickup spacing is way off, they are both too close to the center
- Trem Bar Too Short
- Same trem as used on Mosrite copies (not bad, just not correct to the guitar style)
- Body shape may be a teensy bit different.
- Pickguard shape off, missing little "tooth/wave" on the upper rhythm circuit section, also, the lead vol/tone/output jack area seems too wide
- pickup selector in the wrong place, needs to be closer to the edge
- Roller Bridge, which might be a better deal

However, if cheap enough, it looks like a GREAT candidate to Jazzmaster-Ize over a period of time.  I don't know how good the pickups are, but I know that pickguard, bridge, trem, and possiblly tuners would be swapped for Jazzmaster parts, and an ALlparts bridge installed.

Of course, I Think a LOT Of those changes are to keep them from being sued by Fender, especially any body changes, sine a LOT of the Jazzmaster and Jaguar designs are patented (the trem, the body shape, the pickups, the circuitry).  From playing a Univox Hi-Flyer before though, I'd say the trem would not be as bad as some might think, actually I like it, and it feels a lot like my CIJ Jaguar's trem.

I dunno, I used to do that whole upgrading a cheap guitar thing, only difference is I did it over time, and usually used the cheapest parts I could get my hands on whenever they became so.  So one week it would be stock, about a month later it turns up with a new pickguard, some missing parts, and moved pickups.  Then about 2 months later there's the Jaguar & Jazzmaster Trem/Bridge, and then not much afterward, Rhythm Circuit and Rollers.

Those switches are phase switches, and one bypasses the tone controls, if I understand the auction text correctly.

I still think it's cool... for the price.

I like the Hi-Flyer trem....

Well at least other's thought it was shell pink.  :)

That price is just too much for me.  I would want it to be maybe half of that to mess around with.  Otherwise I would pay the extra for a used CIJ/MIJ.  ...And still mess around with that.
