My friend Michael plays in a couple of pretty awesome bands called North of America and The Holy Shroud, and has a penchant for offset guitars.
The Jazzmaster is a 63 which he bought 6 or 7 years ago for about 650 dollars CANADIAN.
The Jag is a 60-something which was purchased for considerably more (not his, but a bandmates).
I had the Jazzmaster for a while, and it was one of the nicest guitars I have ever played...eye candy too!

The jag is either '65 or early '66 becuase of the dots + binding .They are both beautiful.

... but tell him that duct tape and/or electrical tape on vintage finishes is not a good idea!

I'm guessing you live in the great city of Halifax? "Michael" as in Mike Bigelow perhaps?

I am friends with Mike Bigelow, but it was Michael Catano I was talking about!

In regards to the picture of the lovely Tamaki tuning the Jazzmaster, is it common practice to tune a guitar with a capo on it? I'm asking out of complete ignorance, I only use mine to keep the strings from flying all over the place when I'm swapping pickups...
One more guitar, then I'll practice!

yep, it's normally not a problem. sometimes the strings can stick a bit when tuning down, but it's not a big problem.

I have to tune my guitars with the capo on, if I'm using it. The strings are often out of tune, slightly, when I put the cap on if I don't. I'm a bitch when it comes to being in tune.
