'72 stripped JM

Hello all, I need some advice on a '72 JM someone offered me.

The finish is stripped on body & headstock, the decal's gone.
Otherwise the guitar looks quite nice. I'm not really considering this
as an instrument I want to play as-is, but for parting it out for some
other projects. The body doesn't look as if it consists of more than
3 or 4 pieces (only got pics here).

What would you pay ? I mean, I don't really need the guitar, but
I sold one like this (later 70s) for much less than USD 700 some
years ago.

Suggestions?

I have no idea what it'd go for.. especially on ebay, who knows at that point?!

personally as long as everything else is original/correct I'd probably go up to $1500 but be most comfortable -$1200

exactly, I  felt something like 1.100 would be too much already 
but with what madmen pay these days, you never know...
I'll just sit back and relax and think it over with a glass of wine,
but not too many, or else...

I would think a grand is fair enough it has everything included(besides finish) right?  I would take it in a heartbeat but that's coming from a guy who is presently desperate for an offset to fill the hole in my collection for something with a decent trem...

I think one thousand is too much for a stripped guitar. Its only worth is its playability. Since all recognizable things on it, like the decal, and finish are gone, you have no proof it is original. So its value is only as a player.
Of course if you pick it up and plug it in and you are in heaven, well, go for it at 1200 - but only if it is real real special.

I live by this motto:
If everyone wants something real bad, and there is alot of competition to get it, I want something else.
This is why I bought a Jag and  a JM (both mid 60's models refins) in 1989 for 270 apiece, because I wanted them then and no one else did.

If I didnt have them I probably couldnt afford them now.

I know it's a '72, and maybe most people don't care, but I'd rather it wasn't parted out.

I don't mean to part it out for Ebay, if that's your point Zhivago...
... anyway, most of the stuff they made after 66 is just not worth
being played "as-is" IMHO. anyway, I'll just see if I can get it under
$1.000, but I bet some collector will make him a better offer. I just hope
they won't put a bad decal on it and try to re-sell for twice as much.
