Fender XII is MINE ! ! !
Been off the board for a few weeks due to a new job, but wanted to share the good news that my XII clone project is DEAD...because I just scored a REAL vintage XII. I was the high bidder on eBay, but didn't meet the reserve. Called the shop, and negotiated a reasonable deal. I really wanted the Candy Red or LPB with matching headstock and B+B XII's that have been on the 'Bay, but both were going for $6000, which was WAY WAY WAY out of my price range. I'll be happy to settle for an SB for MUCH, MUCH less.
Here's the links to the auction for the photos:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... &rd=1&rd=1
I'll post my own photos and review once I get it. I was pretty serious about my project XII, but I'd probably spend $1500 and not have a real XII. So I spent a few more bucks but got the real thing. I hope this doesn't start a vintage trend with me (I'm also on the lookout for a Bass V).
This XII will find a home with my Jag bass, Bass VI RI, Bass VI 2006 CS, and Jag Baritone (plus an MIJ JM on loan from my brother!).

Congratulations! You'll love it! I just got ahold of a XII too. I'm still really surprised at how versatile it is. Money well spent IMO.

I know where a Bass V is. No idea how much $$ they're asking though.
Congrats on the XII. I was watching it as well and probably would have bid on it if only the case had the pocket. I expect the obligatory photo post now you know.

Thanks for the tip on the Bass V. Small world. I used to live in Huntington Beach in the late 80s, actually just off of Beach Blvd!. I'll give them a call about the Bass V.Jay wrote: I know where a Bass V is. No idea how much $$ they're asking though.

I know the vintage collecters would think I'm stupid, but the case doesn't really mean much to me.
And yes, I'll post photos when I get it. Hopefully a few sound bites as well.

Re: Fender XII is MINE ! ! !
I'm hoping I like it better than either of the 2 Rickys I've had (my own Tom Petty and a 360/12 I borrowed from my brother). The Rics have the tone, but man are they tempermental. Necks are way too skinny at the nut. Trying to tune the damn things so they sound good in E and D can be a long, frustrating experience. The Petty even had individual saddles, but it seemed like the nut placement was wrong (Emaj to Gmaj was frustrating). Even though they're neck through, the design is a bit lame and neck stability suffers greatly (just don't move when you play it, or built in whammy by bending the neck!).i love sharin foo wrote: Congratulations! I think seeing the Incubus video posted on the board here really pushed me over the edge for a real XII.
It will be here Friday, but I'll be out of town at a ski race with my 12 year old and won't get to touch it until Sunday. Oh, the agony!

I was bidding on that, but went to my max that was available before $$ came in from a guitar I just sold. That looks like a nice one!
Destiny's in her evening gown; you're always running late.
You tell her she looks wonderful but she'll just have to wait.

It does look quite nice. It is/was owned by someone in Wilco, who according to the dealer was quite anal on setup and playability. We'll see.serial wrote: I was bidding on that, but went to my max that was available before $$ came in from a guitar I just sold. That looks like a nice one!

the tone of the ricky 12 are cool and you cant get that sound anywhere else but they are an absolute pain to play and they dont intonate well with the 6 saddle bridge..Much prefer the fender XII. I had a white matching headstock '65 XII which I stupidly sold years ago..it was amazing.

Yeah, I saw that one but it is way too much. I'd rather find a fixer that I can save.daydreamdelay wrote: a shop near me has a LPB Bass V that looks great but is $6500

Guitar Center in Hollywood CA, USA has a couple Coronado XII in stock. If I recall an orange one for $1500 USD and a sunburst for $1900 USD. I've not seen either.thew ebow wrote: they are going for £1998 in London at moment..madness.. is ebay the best bet then? or do i need to import one from the states... i am considering coronado XII...well done, beautiful score!
