This one's a pet peeve of mine, but luckily for me, it's not an acronym, so I don't have to worry about it! :D

I'm iffy on these. I've never seen blackface or silverface acronym'd and unless TAD is some massive retailer that I'm not aware of that's commonly discussed offhandedly like MF, I'm probably gonna leave it off.

I don't think anyone uses it but the 'official' Fender Acronym for the blonde colour is USB, and there's also VWH which is basically that kinda yellowy olympic white that is on some japanese jazzies

Hmm, OK - all of these terms (yes, including 'TAD') see regular usage on newsgroups/forums dedicated to the discussion of amps, and have been for as long as I can remember.

Hate to be anal, but:

BF: Black Face, refers to Fender amps produced from 1964-1967. The acronym describes the color of their grill cloth.
SF: Silver Face, refers to Fender amps produced from 1967-1981. The acronym describes the color of their grill cloth.
It refers to the faceplate, black and silver, respectively.

FDP: Fender Discussion Pages, the official Fender forum.
Actually, the official Fender forum is at http://www.fender.com/community/forums/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

OCR: (finish color) Original Candy Apple Red, a Fender Japan option, darker than CAR
This stands for Old Candy apple Red.

Both indeed refer to the faceplate. Note that there was a brief period of blackface aesthetics on the last gasp of silverface amps.

They can also be combined with the model acronyms: SFDR, BFPR, etc.
BM = Bandmaster
MMB = Musicmaster Bass (amp)
PR = Princeton Reverb
SR = Super Reverb
TR = Tremolux ?
VC = Vibro Champ
etc.

Actually, very few of these words are actually true acronyms- I doubt even offsetters would refer to CAR as "car" except when typing, or AVRI as "avrey". In truth, these are mostly just abbreviations or initializations. Acronyms are words made from initials.
