Olympic White Pickguard
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this site . I had a Japan JM in the early 90's but sold it. I'm getting an AVRI Jazzmaster soon, Olympic White. I'd like to change the pickguard to maybe white perloid. Does anyone know if this one would fit without screwing new holes:
http://www.allparts.com/categories.php? ... K%20GUARDS Part Number G_0582-055 Pick Guard for Jazzmaster®, White Pearloid 3-ply (WP/W/B)
Any other suggestions on where to get one online that exactly fits. I've seen the white on white posts. Can someone post a pic if they have a perloid on Olympic white or another colour pickguard on Olympic white that can be easily obtained online that fits?
Does the Pickguard just come off with the screws or does wiring need to be accounted for?
Many Thanks,
Alex

I agree! I've always liked black on white with '70s Fenders. I think Telecaster Deluxes look GREAT with that combo toopopskull wrote: That black on white looks geat!

There are stock MIJ/CIJ black pick guard available. I even saw them in a local store....
And the blue perloid looks amazing. a friend of mine has a JM with such a pick-guard. he had it custom made....looks superb...
I got an early 90ties oly white MIJ JM, but switched the pick guard for a CIJ "tortoise" one, since I did not like the "red chopped liver" one....
Looks good on a natural wood JM though.....

A flat blue on Thurston's old modified Duo-Sonic, nice combo.

This is just my opinion but I find those coloured pearloid pick guards rather tacky.

To me they start to look better really worn but I just cant bring myself to abusing the JM. Yeh I'm not going for that blue perloid anymore although it would still look good. SY have a hell of range http://www.sonicyouth.com/mustang/eq/gear.html

Re: Olympic White Pickguard
A GREAT BIG HELL YEAH! to the black on white. I just looked over at my Jaguar, and I imagined it with a black pickguard.
.....the mind boggles at the concept.... (cue theramin music like in 50's sci-fi movies)
I'm sorry, but no on the blue p/g, it does look tacky to me. I've only seen one colored pickguard that worked. At the Guitar Center I worked at, they built a "Palmdale Guitar Center Strat" that was a basic black Mexican Standard Strat they they put a copper/ orange shell pickguard and a matching set of SD Hot Rails pickups. The thing looked AWESOME!!! Sounded and played wonderful also...

Anyone put a black pickguard on a white AVRI JM?. Can you let me know where you got it and the part number. Did it fit exact in the current holes or did you have to modify the screw holes or create new ones?
