Found this - looks like the first matching headstock Marr I've seen!

Hey, that's my screenshot! :)
WOW! That's one gorgeous Jag! So to clarify, did you order this through the Custom Shop?
The guy tagged in the caption is Matthew Farrar, he's Fender Artist Relations if I remember correctly. The guy responsible for getting Fender guitars into artists hands/custom pieces done for musicians that I assume have a relationship with Fender/Fender is looking to start a relationship with due to visibility/fanbase reach. He probably works with smaller artists too, honestly I can't really speak to what he does - but I've seen him do a custom Jazzmaster for John Gourley of Portugal the Man

I used to know the guy who owns the guitar about 15 years ago. He was big into modding the Roland G-707 at the time, refinishing them and chopping bits off.

Cool guitars! How do you rate or compare the Johnny Marr with your AP jag?

Let's say, it's pretty subjective, because both guitars are very good.
I prefer the neck of my Johnny Marr, which is a bit rounder and slightly easier to play.
The Johnny Marr pickups are cleaner, like more compressed and I prefer them too, although the Fender AM pickups are very good, I would say they are slightly more "raw".
The nitro finish of the Johnny Marr is very nice but very fragile, while the polyurethane finish of the AM is fine, very nice and more resistant.
The Johnny Marr will be "vintage" much faster ...
For everything else, the two guitars are very similar.

Hello Marrguar lovers!

I'm a huge fan of the neck profile on the Marr Jaguar and would like a Strat with a similar neck. Does anyone have an idea what would be the closest equivalent neck on a Strat? Would it be a '59 D or a '65 C reissue or something else? Does anyone have one of these Strats and can compare the neck with the Marrguar neck?

Cheers from Barcelona,
Igor

From the ones I've played, I'd say the AV65 came closest.

I concur - I've had a JM Jag (custom shaped-neck based on Johnny's '65 Jag) and currently own a AV '65 Strat, with the "Mid-60s C" shaped neck. 8)

Many thanks both, very much appreciated! Finding discontinued AVRIs is not that easy in Europe and I may have to buy one on Reverb without trying, so it's really good to have this feedback.

Sounds like the trem spring creaking. I would first try winding the trem tension screw in and out a bit (the screw in the middle below the lock switch) - count the turns so that you can get it back where it started. That might reseat the spring a bit.

If no joy with that, I’d take the trem off, take off the spring and grease the threaded cone it sits on, and any other contact points for the spring. And I’d grease the knife edge pivots whilst it’s apart. Also check the arm collet is nice and tight.

It doesn’t sound serious, but might need a bit of fiddling with!
All the cheeses....

Random tip for chip repair for a white Marr
I finally took my Marr Jaguar into the local Bartell drug store to match the finish with a nail polish for an old, preexisting chip. Result: Sally Hansen Pure nail polish in 380 sun-tastic is really close to the yellowed white / cream on the Marr. Slightly darker but darn close. Good enough for making the chip to wood on the front (above neck pickup) look a little less obvious, especially at any distance.

Just a heads up for anyone looking for a Marr Jaguar, there's a used one on Reverb right now for $1350. It's a KO color. I have no affiliation with the listing.
