Hellcat VI

-I don't know this will stir up the pot, but here goes...-

Has anyone seen in person or played the Schecter Hellcat VI? I want a Bass VI, but can't afford one, and I think this is a decent looking choice. It's alder with a maple neck with rosewood fretboard...score. I like the looks of it. What do you think?

as i recall, Alfred (BassVIst) bought one and gave it a test drive when they first came out, then resold it. you can probably find his comments archived on the "other" forum.

Looks good, and Schecter have a good reputation, though I've never tried one - you don't see them here in Australia. Schecter make their own hardware, so there would be no need to upgrade anything.

I suspect that it would have a "modern" feel to it, which would put retro-purists off. I have no objection to modern specs myself, my partscaster is quite modern-styled. So I reckon I'd like it. I do like the looks of it. The big question, of course, is "how much"?

EDIT: answered my own question, and found:
http://reviews.harmony-central.com/revi ... at+VI/10/1

I'd say US ~$500 seems a reasonable price.

i really like the burns barracuda baritone.  haven't played one yet, but it would be a nice buddy to my 67 bison bass.

I was thinking about this guitar all day. I want to play one before I save my pennies to get one. I've only seen them online or in the Schecter catilogue, so I may not even like the way it feels or sounds. I read reviews on Harmony Central, and people seem to like them after the first year they were made. We'll see, though. I have to pay off my credit card a bit more before I can think about adding a new member to the family.

Schecters are decent guitars. They make quality instruments, just geared more to the hard rock/metal sect. And The Cure...odd. They are well put together guitars, though.
