Beisdes the scale, they share pretty much nothing. It all really comes down to what sound you are after.

The Jaguar HH is a hot looking guitar but it's not really like a Jaguar.  It's got the same body and neck but that's about it - different pickups (humbuckers!), hard tail, etc.

The Mustang is basically the classic Mustang.  It's a reissue, so it's going to be pretty much what you expect.  And it's more of a traditional Fender guitar.

They're gonna sound a lot different, probably play pretty different too.  So I second Justin's comment.

Edit:  One thing I realized after my post is that if you're considering a Jaguar HH, which IIRC is a Japanese model and sells for around $630, you may as well consider a regular Japanese Jaguar for around the same price.  Then you'd have tremolo and you'd have pickups closer to a vintage Jag.  Plus you'd have more color combos available, although not black with matching headstock, which is a pretty cool look on the HH.  But the point is I don't know if you're thinking of the HH just because of the price, but if so, then I'd seriously look at the CIJ Jaguars as well, especially since the HH is made in Japan just like they are.

I really really like my Jag HH. It does have a jag sound, only mellower. It has twang in all pickup combinations. It is really nice to play, is probably the sexiest guitar you ever saw, and is just great.
You should really play one of each. And do this at least three separate times before you decide.

ya ive already played a jag HH but there aren't any stores around here that have  any mustangs (or hardly any offsets for that matter).

If the jag HH hasnt impressed you enough to buy it now, then maybe you should wait until you get to play a mustang.
Basically you have about 600 dollars and why spend it on something that doesnt blow you away?
I would hold on to the money until I could play a mustang.
If neither blows you away, then save the money longer and get something that does.
Dont let the money burn a hole in your pocket. I have done that many times.
