I found this pic amongst the hundreds of random guitar photos saved on my hard drive. It's probably been there for a few years and I have no idea where I saved it from on the web. I own most of the Fender guitar books in print (that I know of anyway) and it isn't in any of those. Could it be from a Japanese book perhaps?

This is a shrunken version, the actual photo I saved is huge...like a scan from a large coffee table type book.

Please let it be one that's still in print somewhere. 

I used it as a wallpaper for a while, despite the ugly room the guitars where pictured in.

that is one of the prototypes...the image on Jim Shine's website is also a cropping of one of my scans.

them pics appear to have gone around the world since I scanned them...kinda cool as I scanned them years ago...in the FDP days

yes, it was a quarterly special issue of some sort...I think it's August 1995, and the magazine is definitely called "Vintage Guitar Gallery", or something simple like that....

I still have it somewhere.

it also has a step-by-step restoration of a canibalised '63 Jazzmaster...I have turned the article into pdf format and it's available from download in the Library section

Ice blue metallic?

I vote for Ice Blue...probably faded a bit too....

the pages have yellowed over the years, so the colours aren't that accurate.....I guess you could say the magazine is reliced!

i thought inca silver. although the nitro over IS can make it turn quite green over time....

  No Jazzmaster collection is complete without at least ONE sunburst, prototype or no prototype!

there was one page before this one with two sunbursts...one had a gold guard, and the other one was a rare mint green guard

in the middle of the two, was the prototype again...

I reckon Chinery had even more JMs stashed away
