58 JazzMaster

Saw this on VG Mag and wanted to share it.  The caption read:

A 1958 Jazzmaster with anaodized pickguard, tweed case, both tags, strap, polish cloth, set of strings, pick pouch, '58 catalog, July '58 price list (the first to feature the Jazzmaster - also listed a non-tremolo version), and the flyer sent to dealers introducing "America's Finest Electric Guitar."

Too bad there's a buzz stop on such a wonderful guitar!.... It's  nonetheless.


Oh, and a non-tremolo version??? I wonder what that is about..

The sunburst doesn’t look very 58 to me.

Hmm... i think the second one's burst is more '58-ish  than the first one with the bright yellow/red band. Expertise?

The bottom one looks like an AVRI... I'm sure it's not, but from the pic it sure looks like it.  And the top one looks like a mid 60's burst to me, but the pics are so small, it's hard to tell...

The gold guard has got to be a factory refin or a refin of some sort.
