New JM sighting

Post by thewizardofaz » Sun Jul 15, 2007 8:35 pm

I was in the local guitar place, well, the best one locally, Rainbow guitars. We went over to the repair shop to get some parts. On their bench was a brand new Jazzmaster, in get this...metalflake purple and a yellowish gold metal guard!  I asked if this was a custom shop model and they said no, that it was a standard JM they'd just got into the store and they were setting it up before taking it out to the floor. Can you believe it, a purple metalflake? Has anyone else seen one of these? I need to take a trip back to that store soon and see if I can get a closer look!!

Are you talking about the new Mascis model?

That's it!! It's gorgeous. I didn't think I'd like a purple guitar, but this is flat, dropdead, gorgeous.

I'm really warming up to big flakes on JMs - the purple on this one looks really nice.  I also liked the blue sparkle 59 that went on ebay last week.  I may be turning to the dark side of non factory colors soon  :o

I'm curious though.  The local stores don't usually get MIJ/CIJ Jazzmasters. Wonder what's going on?

It's a special signature model.  Seriously, read the thread about the J. Mascis JM!
