Conngrats, Zeus on your incoming 50th Anni Jag! I love my BMM. I found gutter rock's comments about increasing sales prices interesting. Hadn't checked them for awhile (not that I have any intention of selling) and he is right. I think that the uniqueness and "goodness" of this model is now being reflected in what people are willing to pay. Enjoy! :)

God. I had a chance for a mint LPB last summer for $1,200. I should have pulled the trigger. That guitar sounded AMAZING in the store.

I don't see them going up in price, they are still in the $1000 range on ebay, with the exception of BMM models which go for more. Case in point: A LPB one sold for $950 two months ago on ebay, while a red one sold for a bit over $1120.

Hmmm. I was going by recent Reverb listings. I hardly check eBay anymore. That is kinda good news, wouldn't mind adding a BMM to the herd one day.

I see. I need to check reverb more often.

Eventually these should increase in price, especially the BMMs which already go for $1400+ from what I can tell. Unless Fender does an AV66/68 reissue with B&B.

sunburster - I looked at both EBAY "sold" listings and on REVERB and it certainly seems that on average selling prices are up from what I was seeing 6 and 12 months ago.......probably by a couple hundred dollars or so from what I recall. IIRC, the LPB one you referenced @ $950 had some cosmetic defects and I recall seeing one that did not have the original case, which of course affects value. You are correct that the BMM models seem to bring more, which has been the trend for quite a while. Quite frankly, I was surprised to see some BMMs actually selling for quite a bit more than the numbers you mentioned.

edit: just saw your last post noting $1400 for BMM models, which is about what I'm seeing......... and a few for more than that! I paid $1300 for my new BMM from local dealer in early 2014. Thought it was a good price then...and still very glad I got it !

I don't see any major defects on the LPB one (just a few small dings on the back), and both guitars I linked to included the hardshell case.

In that case Zeus really got a quite excellent price; after accounting for import duties, shipping and insurance he(?) probably couldn't have landed one from the US for any less than paid for a brand new guitar locally 8)

That's pretty reassuring, actually! It's certainly the most expensive guitar I've ever owned (but hopefully more than worth it).

Not to beat this to death..........but, the seller stated condition of that LPB one as 8/10 and the case was a black one - NOT the original AVVI brown case that came with this model, and no case candy. The red one you referenced that sold for $1121 was characterized by the seller as 8/10 condition and 80% fret life remaining. Not saying these were bad buys or bad guitars, but certainly not condition to bring top dollar. As far as other recent actual sales on EBay, there was a LPB @ $1450 and 2 BMM models sold for $1399 and $1699.

Back to Zeus's new BMM, I agree with andy_tchp that he got a pretty good buy on that one, considering diff. exchange rate, etc.

Everyone likes to get a "good deal" (I certainly do), but IMO if you find something that is what you truly want and is in top condition and/or not easy to find, then if you pay a little too much, all you lose is a little bit of $$. That "loss" is generally short term, and value may appreciate over time. The enjoyment lasts far longer. On the other hand, I learned a long time ago that a "good deal" on something that isn't what you really want usually ends up costing more over time - to get what you really wanted in the first place! :)

Can't wait to get the Staytrem on there and some heavier flatwounds. I was using 11 gauge flats on my Tele (and I have an extra set to hand) but thinking about trying out 12s to see how they feel.

It looks so nice, congrats. One of the local stores here has one exactly like this, with the light fretboard. Very tempted..

As you can probably see in the photos (the outdoor one especially), the fretboard has quite a pronounced "stripe" in the rosewood on the left-hand side.

It doesn't bother me very much but I do wonder if I could darken the whole fretboard a bit with some polish or something similar. I wouldn't want to risk messing up the blocks/binding however, and it sounds and plays great which is the most important thing, so that's something I'll think about for a long while before attempting anything.

I am generally in favour of dark fretboards, but on this particular Jag (and also on the similar one that is at my local store) I really like the stripe. It looks very cool in my opinion.
