Re: best gigbag for a Jazzmaster?
The ONLY gig bag I've ever had to fit a Jazzmaster in has been the Gig bag that originally came with a MIJ Baritone Jaguar. Or if I didn't have that I would use a bass gig bag.
I finally finish building a guitar, go to play it, and then remember, "oh yeah, that's right. I suck at playing... Why did I build another guitar again?"

The guitars usually come with a great G&G or fender case, but you can't close the lid without removing the tremelo each time. At least thats my experience. Hence the need for a gig bag. I will get a flight case to put the gig-bagged guitar in for more heavy duty travel etc.Stella was a Diver wrote:I'd rather pay a little bit extra for s good case myself

Right, but the bass bags are annoyingly big. Thought I'd share an easily had and cheap option that fits a JM well without stretching the bag. Just sayin...

You most certainly can. Did it for years with no issue, including with a much tighter fitting Hiscox hard-case.Bleakstreak wrote:The guitars usually come with a great G&G or fender case, but you can't close the lid without removing the tremelo each time.

I'm really just showing off, but my special run MIJ came with this: http://store.ishibashi.co.jp/ec/img/00/ ... 2727_l.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I don't know if you can get them with any other guitar, or by themselves, but it seems to be very well made. Nice and snug, too, and has a strap at the bottom (that you can't see in the picture) that gets rid of any slack in the bag.

My Jazzmaster fits inside a standard gig bag from http://haightashburymusic.com/ with room to spare. It's nice and padded too. Call them up and ask about the gig bag with their company logo on it. Prolly about $60.

I recommend to be carefully with this cases. Yes, it's very light and comfortable, but my experience shows that the interior of this bag is not qualitative. Through the thin padding felt irregularities and there are much of dried glue on the upholstery. If I saw it in a local store I would have refused to purchase.OffYourFace wrote:NICQ wrote:http://www.thomann.de/gb/rockcase_rc208 ... _light.htm
that's the one I use mostly - not a real gigbag, but very light to carry around and protects the guitar perfectly
thanks for all the great suggestions so far guys! I'm liking that one ^^
Sorry to be a fly in the ointment.

Re: best gigbag for a Jazzmaster?
I'm using a Fender one that the shop gave me when I bought it - does the job...
On the subject of cases... many of them are little improvement on a gigbag. I only buy Hiscox cases. You can stand on them. Try that with a Fender, Gibson, Gretsch etc standard case and you'll go through it - most of them are little more than covered cardboard.
I often demonstrate the quality of the Hiscox case by standing on the one I keep my hollow body Gretsch 5420 in.

I also just use a Fender gigbag, works fine only issue is the cheap shoulder straps keep breaking!!
I have considered the Mono dual bag as mentioned earlier in this post, bit of an investment but a friend has one and it is very sturdy and extremely well made! Also means I can have 2 guitars with me as I often use different turnings.

With the tremelo in place and swung in any direction the lid on my case stands up a good two or three inches. You can conceivably close the lid, but this requires smashing the tremelo arm all the way down against the body of the guitar. If nothing else this cannot be good for the spring. I did not feel "good" to close the lid, I really had to force it. Common sense told me this was a bad idea. Am I the only one that's come to this conclusion?andy_tchp wrote:You most certainly can. I always leave my tremo arm when putting my Jazzys in their case. With time, the case foam change to accomodate the pressure of the arm.Bleakstreak wrote:With the tremelo in place and swung in any direction the lid on my case stands up a good two or three inches. Re: best gigbag for a Jazzmaster?
Looking for a new gigbag for my JM.
Fender makes this gigbag for offsets:
https://shop.fender.com/en-US/accessori ... 12506.html
... but this "universal" one seems a little better:
https://shop.fender.com/en-US/accessori ... 12406.html
Does anybody know if the JM fits in this one?

I'm a big fan of the Gator 4G gigbag. Well made and padded well for $60. its what I use for most of my Jazzmasters.
